While I can’t speak with 100% accuracy as to the doings of each and every Sith Lord during that timeframe, I’d say –in broad strokes- using their superpowers to slowly mess up the galaxy.

See, you can’t mess up the galaxy all at once; the Jedi would catch wind of it and use their superpowers to shut down the whole operation. You do it incrementally, so that there’s not some massive disturbance that the Jedi sense. As a matter of fact, it could be that the next trilogy involves a Sith who

    A) Doesn’t want to wait another thousand years
    B) Triggers the galactic danger-sense of the Jedi
    C) Starts big massive battle with the Jedi
    D) Gets defeated at the end of the story arc, however many movies that takes

Let me explain how it’s possible to have a Sith Lord -even an army of Sith Lords- in the movies without denigrating Anakin’s Sacrifice™ in the least. Go back to my quote from Yoda, that life creates the Force. Consider also my supposition that anger, fear, and hate in living beings generates the dark side. I’d say that the Sith from Bane all the way up to Sidious spent their efforts fomenting fear, anger, and hate throughout the galaxy, bolstering the dark side and hindering the perceptions of the Jedi., culminating in a three year long galactic hate-[censored] called the Clone Wars. Things got so twisted that a Dark Lord of the Sith was elected Emperor to thunderous applause.

There may be new Sith that pose a physical/military threat to the galaxy, but no Sith will ever pose a spiritual threat as great as Sidious and Vader.

Hmm, they could do a trilogy in between III and IV...

Why did it take so long for a non-waiting Sith (Palpatine) to show up the first time?

The only way having Sith in the ST would ruin the existing series would be to do something outside the scope of what has been established.

Example: Bringing Vader back to life would ruin the PT and OT. There has been nothing in the existing movies to establish not only a flesh and blood return from the dead, but also a selective return of somebody's personallity traits.

Having Sith in the ST would do nothing but support all the things that have been established by the existing films.

    1. We all thought Anakin was dead only to find out he was Darth Vader. (if you started with Ep IV as I did)
    2. Lucas has established the "mirroring of events" throughout the saga. I.E. Similar things happen the different characters along the way.
    3. The story repeats like a song, where the recurring chorus brings us to a familiar place.
    4. And so on, and so on, and so on...........
If the Sith are to be in the ST as I believe they will, they will not be pulled out of thin air. There are a number of open doors in the PT that would/could allow for the Sith to continue. Some of these doors are surely arguable, but the only way to fully discredit any of them is it they do not come to fruition.

Remember, one of the underlying plot elements for both the Jedi and the Sith has been the quest for imortality. This is something that we the audience did not find until the PT with Qui-Gon on the Jedi side, and the Plageous story influencing Anakin on the Sith side. We know from Ep III that Qui-Gon acomplishes this (at least to some degree...). We are not sure about the Sith......... Thats one door.

    There are.......another..........couple..........of.....doors......as......well......[face_devil]

The idea of the prophecy somehow making it so that the Sith will be destroyed forever, doesn't really make sense.

There are 3 things, that make a Sith a Sith, and these 3 things can not be rid of, even if all the Sith in the galaxy were wiped out.

    1. Evil
    2. Darkside
    3. Sith Ideology (which can be found in ruins of sith civilization and in other places)

Yes Anakin did destroy the sith in ROTJ (during the PT and OT, "the sith" referred to the Rule of Two/Order of Sith Lords group, and the only members of this faction were wiped out in ROTJ) but that doesn't mean future sith can't come into existence. It's not like the sith following the Rule of Two had been the only sith faction to ever exist.

Disney is in control and they do make good movies like Star Wars for the love of it, its a money maker. Disney may or may not change the face of Star Wars. All we can do is hope that it will be as good as George Lucas originally had made it.o_O

No, I didn't say that the Sith don't use the Dark Side. I said that the Sith aren't all there is to the Dark Side, nor are they the only Dark Side users out there. So while the Sith do use the Dark Side, destroying the Sith wouldn't destroy the Dark Side, nor would it preclude other, non-Sith Dark Side users from presenting a problem to the Jedi or our noble heroes in the Rebellion.

I hope all that's cleared up now.

The SW mythos has extreme good vs extreme bad. The Jedi and the Sith have been made to be the epitome of both. It wouldn't make sense having an enemy that is "bad, but not that bad".

...Palpatine destroyed an entire planet in the blink of an eye...I'd say that's worse.

If you were a german male of the right age, etc, at the time of WWII, you would have most likely fought as a "Nazi", which is short for a german word that means national socialism. The national socialism movement was a reaction to WWI and fascism. Hitler took ideas from national socialism and elsewhere as he orchestrated genocide during WWII. The more apt comparison would be Hitler worse than/better than Sith.

I still don't understand the point of comparison between the two.
