I think the PT would be better if it's 3 hours per movie since the conflict is a bit more complexed than OT, especially EP III. Many great movies use 3 hours to explain everything well enough, such as LotR. Maybe the new Trilogy could extend the length?

Directly in the middle. 2 1/2 hours, as usual.

I'd say that none of the movies are going to be longer than 2:20.

I can't think of one 3 hour movie that didn't feel like 3 hours. I like the LOTR trilogy but they aren't fast movers for the most part and drag in many places.

Some parts of ROTS did feel very rushed. Lucas is very ruthless when it comes to editing. I think even Rick Mcallum said as much. We may get longer films with a whole other team being involved this time.

I'd like to see a 3 hour Star Wars movie. The PT did need to be fleshed out a bit more. If you didn't read the EU you were in a bit of trouble.

I'd rather the whole PT was a 5 minute summary given by Yoda, while he was on the ****ter!

The Anakin/Obi-Wan relationship was terrible from movie to movie. Especially in AOTC.

    ANH : 120 min
    TESB : 124 min
    ROTJ : 131 min
    TPM : 130 min
    AOTC : 137 min
    ROTS : 134 min
    EP7 : 135 min ?

After TESB the movies got a little longer but no more than 137 min so their more than likely to stick to tradition so I estimate EP7's running time at 135 min .

I didn't read any of the EU during the PT and had no trouble comprehending it.

You're lucky. No whiplash from movie to movie about their friendship?

Nope, their friendship was completely believable for me. There were numerous times in the PT where their love for each other shined through all their frustrations with one another. To me they were the quintessential brothers. They were frustrated with one another, they fought, they blamed one another, but in the end they loved each other. To me their relationship was very realistic.

I would also like a longer duration. 3 hours would be my preference.

    I know, huh?

I remember when some people wanted them to be these perfect and happy go-lucky friends. But that wouldn't make sense, would it? Given how Anakin would eventually turn against his brothers, whether it be Obi-Wan or anyone else, it only makes sense that he would be this angsty, impatient and power lusting individual, who in the end was suckered into a deal that allowed him to fall from grace and betray everyone that he cared about. But besides all these character flaws that Anakin had as a Jedi, he was still remembered as a friend to Obi-Wan, because of all the good he did for the Republic, and certainly because of all the times he saved his master's life while doing so. But I guess people wanted more than that.

Three hours, sure. But only bloated egos like Peter Jackson will create a 3 hour plus movie and expect people to sit through it, without an intermission. I'm all for longer movies that warrant the time. Saw Lawrence of Arabia at this past fall's re-release. It had an intermission. The Seven Samurai is three hours plus. It has an intermission.

Star Wars is based on adventure movies from the 40s and 50s so I think it's breezy style is best at the 2 hour mark.

Exactly. I've said before that just because Anakin has flaws does not mean he isn't a good person and just because two brothers argue with each other doesn't mean they don't love each other. Every human being on Earth has flaws so why would our heroes be any different? Brothers argue and fight all the time so why wouldn't two brothers from the GFFA be any different? To portray them any other way would just be boring IMO.

i think ROTS would have benefitted from being longer. IMO it should have been a 2 part movie.

We discussed it before, their relationship is good enough, probably a bit too good if we look at OT.

In OT, Obi Wan was using Luke, telling him Vader killed his dad, and still ask Luke to kill Vader after he knew the truth and said No.

Vader totally viewed Obi Wan as enemy except in the end, he killed Obi Wan without hesitate a second when Obi Wan put down his Lightsaber.
