I feel this is the a question that is ultimately gonna be answered by fans.

Star Wars's mythos is really centered around the two opposite users of the Force: the Jedi and the Sith. Both follow the Force, both use lightsabers, but their ultimate philosophy or view of the state of the world is really different.

If you had an option be one, what would it be? Jedi? Sith? Something in-between perhaps?

This is a super broad question, what type of Jedi are we talking about. Are we talking Sith Wars Jedi who much more likely to be dedicated to warfare rather than the philosophical nature of the force? or are we talking about Prequel Jedi? How about New Republic Jedi? Legacy Jedi? It's such a broad term, just wanted to present that anyways...

I have trouble with how both are portrayed in the mythos of star wars. I think that the Jedi are almost naive in the way they view the force, while the Sith tend to be caricatures of the opposite of that. For me a true Sith is not like the ones in the movie, who do evil stuff because hey, we do evil stuff; rather a Sith is the manifestation of passion and desire, that is to say, a true Sith would do whatever it takes to get what they want. For me the most realistic Sith in ALL the Star Wars mythos is Vestara. She does what she wants with no restraint to get what she wants. If she needs to work with Jedi to get what she wants she does that. She gives into her "earthly passions" and that's what I truly believe a Sith is, someone dedicated to the physical needs.

Jedi on the other hand are about restraint, it's the balance of desire and control. They represent the logical aspect, that the overriding principle of society is not getting what one wants, but rather what is good for everyone. The way the Jedi of old made this easy was by creating the divide between the light and the dark side, the idea that some powers are not to be used because they are tempting and benefit one party rather than the whole. This was easier than to have each individual Jedi in the order contemplating the necessity and balance of these previously mentioned ideals. I don't believe there is such thing as the Light and the Dark Side, I think there's a struggle between animal passions and justice, and that's what the Jedi represent. I would hate to be stuck in the Old Republic where this idea gets you kicked out of the order for heresy, but under Luke and his New Jedi Order? Sign me up. Kyle Katarn is my idol in terms of this, he utilizes all powers, realizing that it's not the use of a power that makes you bad, it's how you use it.

I would be a Bounty Hunter if I had the choice but I would be a Jedi in the poll.

Sith. I like to use my anger. It gives me focus.

Besides, if the Jedi Council actually accepted me for training, I'd probably be such a thorn in their sides that they'd suddenly come to find Anakin to be a model Knight.

    Neither.

I'd be taken into the Jedi Temple at a young age, receive training, porn bomb the Jedi Archives, get expelled and then go out into the galaxy to use my wicked Force powers for lolz.

There's no way I'd bother trying to save the galaxy, nor would I have any desire to rule it.

[face_laugh] The image of Jocasta Nu's face upon finding a ****load of porn is going to entertain me for the next several hours. Thank you. :*

"If it doesn't appear in our archives, it..." Oh, dammit, never mind.

To be honest I wasn't sure on how I should even categorize it considering that not all on here are familiar with EU. That's why I used the two general broad terms.

Gray Jedi. Don't have to follow a strict, dogmatic code of an Order, but not totally insane like the Sith. I'm an average good guy with a lightsaber and Force abilities that helps society but isn't afraid of totally kicking butt and going to certain...measures...if need be

I'd be a smuggler, but that's not the question. I'd go Sith (which is kind of weird, considering the fact that I'm reading The Jedi Path right now, it's a manual for Jedi)

If we're going strictly by how the movies portray the two factions, then I'd go with the Jedi.

EU though portrays both in a pretty new and different light. In that case it would be the Sith. Overall I think I'd like to join the Sith.

Your Dark Jedi are mostly "good" looking for they are not "Truly" corrupted by the darkside. I myself am a Sith all the way and every day.

Gray Jedi most likely. A Jedi who uses the dark side but is not conservative as most of the Jedi and is not afraid to even use the dark side if it is necessary.

Great question. Hard to say of course unless you believe in absolutes which I do not. We know from our experience in the lives we live that choices are not always allowed the luxury of having a place to identify from. I might have to pull a gun and fire on an intruder of my home even though it's likely that person has a family of their own. I can't take the time to place that choice into a spectrum of blacks and whites so I must do what I'm evolved to do and thats shoot first, ask later. Also, blind choices and moral codes to me sound a bit restrictive to ingenuity of the human spirit as well because adhering strictly to dogmatic inclination is counterproductive to open mindedness.

The middle road is best but sith is so much more fun[face_skull]

Jedi. How could you be a Sith? Don't you realize the other Sith's will want to betray you at some point to be more powerful than you? What a horrible existence. Even in real life situations I don't crave for power. I don't want to be somebody's boss and fire them when an error occurs. I believe that's why American Idol, X factor, Dancing with Stars and shows like that are the most popular shows in america. Because so many people want that power to judge and eliminate the weaker talent since they're not in the position to judge at their every day jobs they gravitate towards shows where they are "judges" and "vote" in their minds they think they have the power in those shows. But for me shows like that don't interest me.
