Speculation Episode 7 Special effects: What do you expect/hope for?

Agreed, I enjoyed the PT a great deal, just in a little different way (being in my thirties at the time of the PT, and being in grade school/junior high during the OT).

 

I loved Star Wars ever since my parents took me to see the movies, that is actually why I felt so let down by the PT.

Would be hella awesome if they used the models and blue screens! At the very least, take the digital feed and make it look retro like ANH and ESB ILM tech. I'm being serious too... It would then "feel" like a real SW movie.

 

Well IMO the space battle's in the OT are way more realistic than those in PT, just compare the battle in ROTJ to ROTS's video game advertisement.

 

No they are not, they look just as "fake" as the space battles in the PT, just in a different way. What makes the difference is the feel of the scenes, the immersion, being more character driven and more essential to the storyline. That is the problem with showing grand batlles, you often lose the personal level. None of that has anything to do with the special effects.

What do I expect? Nothing more or less than the absolute best in the business...just what ILM has always delivered.

 

It should be claymation.

 

Something groundbreaking that blends with natural sets and good character development.

 

The Hyperspace jump from the OT
The seismic bomb from AOTC
Tie Fighters
Good lightsaber sounds

 

That was a raging scene. That was really underrated, great spacefight. Couldn't agree more.

 

But what is it?

 

Ha ha lol. Yeah! I hope we get some exciting starfighter battles in the ST

 

We shall just have to wait and find out!

 

Anyone see the new trailer for Elysium? (trailer here) Talk about seamless VFX work. Neil Blomkamp just knows how to make films look right because he used to be a VFX guy. So when he makes a film he knows how to make it work for his FX team. Interestingly enough i caught this quote from this source : which talks about his possible involvement with the ST.

I hope he does too.

That movie trailer has an awesome look to it; I hope they do that sort of thing for Episode 7.

 

Sorry, but Skyrim is a sandbox. It can never have the same graphic as videogames with a more limited world. So no, Skyrim isn't close to being the "titan of video game graphics". It may be the titan of sandbox video game graphics but that's a whole different animal altogether.

Imo has about the same level of detail as that ROTS shot.
