Obsession did this back in 2005, and that part of the comic remains canon. Basically, Bail is aboard a Star Destroyer which rescues Obi-Wan and Anakin and then participates in the following battle on Boz Pity. The relationship is also explored in Karen Millers' TCW books.

On the note of Kenobi knowing about Owen and Beru, wouldn't Anakin just have told him about their existence in their 13 years together? I see no reason to go to Tatooine, a backwater planet, for a second time in this program; it strains credibility.

I assumed it was to make the Ep. IV line about Anakin following old Obi-Wan on same damn-fool idealistic crusade from Owen's view make more sense.

Probably a reference to Obi and Owen's 19 years of interactions whilst Kenobi watched over Luke from a distance.

No, I would not think Anakin would tell Obi-Wan. Both because the circumstances around which he went back to Tatooine seem like something he wants to forget, and why would Anakin tell Obi-Wan exactly where to find them? Plus, I think he would want to keep a lid on him slaughtering the Sand People and probably wouldn't want to point Obi-Wan in a direction where he's liable to find out about it.

Also, the Clone Wars had not begun until after Owen met Anakin in AOTC. I don't see how he can really think Anakin was foolish for following someone he had not met yet into a war that hadn't begun yet. It wasn't like anyone was really trying to convince him to stay in AOTC. He came back with Shmi, did what Cliegg could not, everyone seemed to give him space, then he abruptly took off to go rescue Obi-Wan.

I'm sure a conversation came up though, after Geonosis: "So, ah Anakin, why exactly were you on Tatooine when I told you to escort Senator Amidala to Naboo?" o_O
For an EU fan, I'm surprisingly a big fan of the 'we don't have to see everything' doctrine; let there be some mystery and off-screen occurrences.

I'm sure Obi-Wan would deduce that Anakin going to Tatooine would have something to do with his mother, considering Anakin did tell Obi-Wan that he had been having reoccurring nightmares involving her. But it would seem out of character IMO for Anakin to open up completely to Obi-Wan on the matter, given how stressful the situation was on him and how much he did not want to return to Tatooine.

He might say he went back for his mother but that she was dead, or he might simply say that he didn't want to talk about it. But I highly would doubt that he would tell Obi-Wan the full story that his mother was sold to a guy named Lars, that he has a half brother, and that his mom was freed and married before being captured by Tusken Raiders and tortured to death.

Considering confirmation that we will see Tusken Raiders in the future, I suspect that Obi-Wan and/or Anakin will return to Tatooine, though whether or not it will be another missed opportunity has yet to be seen. Unless Ahsoka goes to Tatooine, gets the full story, and then tells Obi-Wan [face_plain]

The moment that the Jedi Council learns of the Tusken slaughter is the moment Anakin gets expelled from the Jedi Order; which is, of course, impossible.

But the thing is Owen would be judging Obi-Wan without knowing him. How much do the Lars know about Anakin? Anakin was freed by Qui-Gon not Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon is responsible for taking Anakin off Tatooine in the first place so he's following him, not Obi-Wan. I think, for me personally, it would make more sense if both Anakin and Obi-Wan go to Tatooine and it involves the Lars. That way something must happen that causes Owen to have distrust in Obi-Wan that he wants him away from Luke. I don't think Anakin would tell Obi-Wan about Tatooine - not the full story anyway - the Lars are not his family, why would he tell Obi-Wan about them?

I would hope that even Padme's politician need to stretch the truth and fake sentiments that she didn't have, wouldn't stretch that far.

I always assumed that Owen's attitude had to do with either distrust of the Jedi in general, which was rampant by the time of the Empire, and/or somehow blaming him for the reason that Anakin was away, not with them when Shmi died, not with them in general. There's a conversation in the AOTC novelization in which, after Shmi had been gone for a week or two, Owen and Beru try to put credits together to send a transmission to Anakin. The "we figured you'd show up somebody" line in that movie said a lot.

But...if Anakin never told Obi-Wan that his mother had remarried and lived outside Anchorhead, how would Obi-Wan have known where to find them in ROTS? In Clone Wars: Wild Space, Padme tells Obi-Wan right after Geonosis that Shmi died; when Obi-Wan asked how it happened, Padme says that he will have to ask Anakin if he wants to know the rest. I could see Anakin telling him a very brief version of events while leaving out the Tusken slaughter. And Obi-Wan going with Anakin to Tatooine wouldn't mean Obi-Wan finding out about the slaughter, which took place a decent distance from the Lars homestead (based on the fact that Anakin rode all night in a speeder bike to get there) and based on the fact that outside that particular tribe of Tuskens, nobody on Tatooine really cared.

I have Wild Space but have never read it. I really want to read that one now.

Its interesting that both Tatoonie and Tuskin Raiders have been mentioned for the future, likely season 6.It sounds more line Anakin is going to go back and get confronted by some demons. Somehow I'm reminded of Anakin's "trial of fire' in the microseries. It seems likely Obi-wan would return with him and get his chance to meet Owen. I agree with anakinfan that I thought Owen was really just distrustful of Jedi. I hope Ahsoka will be left out of this one. Unfortunately this sounds like it would fit the broader arc created by the movie and the Slaver arc which she was a part of.

Wild Space: it shows how Bail Organa went from distrusting the Jedi to being one of their greatest advocates. The beginning deals with the immediate aftermath of Geonosis, and it's good, and then it skips to after the time frame of TCW movie. Palpatine is slimy and nasty as hell; I had a more visceral reaction to Palpatine than I had in either the movies or any other EU book. And there is a very hot Anakin/Padme scene that I enjoyed, involving a bed, chee-chee berries and "race you to the shower!"

Is that the same book where Anakin has his padawan braid cut off to officially become a Jedi Knight? And Obi-Wan gets the utter crap kicked out of him? I think Obi-Wan may be the most beatup Jedi in the history of the Jedi Order.

I don't remember a braid-removing scene but Anakin gets Knighted--Yoda's idea and it was done over Obi-Wan's protests.

And yes, Obi-Wan gets the utter crap kicked out of him, and you're right. TCW isn't helping his image there any.

I don't remember but it may be. Karen Miller's books follow TCW show. Wild Space skips to after Christophsis (sp?) and has Anakin being a **** to Ahsoka.

Other than the beginning of the TCW movie, I don't remember seeing any TCW scenes that would imply Anakin had been an *** to Ahsoka.

I did read it a while back and do remember it being a pretty good book. I thought it handled why Bail trusted the Jedi over Palpatine in ROTS pretty well.

Totally. So we have one version with Obi-Wan pushing for Anakin's knighting over the objections of at least some of the Council vs. Anakin's being knighted over Obi-Wan's objections.

In my personal canon: I'm torn. Obi-Wan believes in Anakin, yet still thinks he has "much to learn" of self-mastery.

There's a few EU scenes I'd like to see a good TCW treatment of. The battle where Nejaa Halcyon dies fighting Dark Jedi, referenced in I, Jedi.

Fenn Shysa and his Mandalorian supercommandos fighting on the side of the separatists- first mentioned in Marvel Star Wars and clarified in the History of the Mandalorians article.
