Lit The Official Scoundrels Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

Just finished it. Did not see that ending coming at all.

 

I really liked Scoundrels. One of the best SW books I've read in a long time.

The ending was great too, it really makes you rethink the story once you figure out about Eanjer.

when Lando got kidnapped on his way out of Marblewood.

 

Quoting myself. Since then, somewhere about the midway point, things started to come together and feel more interesting. Enjoying it a lot more, now, although still not one of my favorite Zahn SW stories.

The book can be very exposition heavy at time--too much tell, not enough show...especially in the first half of the book.

I am also a spoiler-phile. And knowing does now ruin it at all for me.

 

I had a feeling Zan was injected with a bit of Luceno-serum for this one. There were quite a few of references I simply didn't expect to show up in Zahn's book. Ylesia was expected, Yavin Vasiliska was a pleasant surprise, Billal Batross was purely a moment of awesome. Revan and Malak... well, they're the big thing now and will probably remain for a while. Other minor things of note are 501-Z droids, Morg Nar, Pter Nyklas, Sise Fromm, Alexy Garyn and Bidlo Kwerve.

The book itself was quite enjoyable, with interesting characters, complex plan, gambit pileup and a (mostly) expected resolution. Special "Hi!" goes to that jerk at Wookieepedia, who put the big spoiler in Dramatis Personae section. Not the plot summary, not even the Appearances section, mind you - Dramatis Personae itself. What the hell did you have to do that for?

 

I was disappointed when it turned out that Jaxxon wasn't going to be in on the heist, but at least the species made an appearance.

 

Saw it coming about 3 pages before it happened.

 

So, I'm only on page 51, and I'm assuming it's a plot point later on, but Winter is already a member of the Rebel Alliance; how is she working for Mazzic?

 

It's not really a plot point, but it is explained.
