That's awesome, because he is a SW fan now. But damn, if it is only a pop-up book. If it was, say, Darth Plagueis, so worthwhile.

That's his story. We know he's keeping it for himself.

As a sociopathic child, whenever we had popup books read to us, I always wanted to see what would happen if I stepped on the popups. Never found out.

So, how much of that is canon? Will the Essential Characters mention Rune's dilemma from when he was in Cato Neimoidian high school? Or did it actually happen during Episode I?
Rune Haako: They are still coming trough!
Nute Gunray: Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop taking pot.

I'm mixed on Joss Wedon and Star Wars. I love his work, and since he is tied to Disney now, and the smash that was Avengers, all he would have to do to get the directors seat for Episode 7 would be to simply ask. But at the same time, he is scheduled for Avengers 2, and the Shield TV series, so that conflicts. :( Why can't we clone Wedon so he can direct all of them?

I admit that that Facebook post seems a little too good to be true, but I haven't seen any real evidence yet that that page isn't him.

I'm not sure I'm ready for Joss-scale character deaths in my Star Wars.

Love the man, but kriff, leave some folks alive for the next guy ...

Because if there's one problem SW doesn't have right now, it's excessive character deaths. o_O

In some regards, he doesn't know a lot, if you ask me. Does he count as famous just because he's written a book?

But it's interesting to see how the comment section actually starts with eloquent discussion really delving into movie analysis so deep you could take it for parody at first. And it takes quite some time before someone says "yadda yadda bad scripts bad director".

I'm preeetty sure the rebels were built on lots of historical examples readily available in the Seventies, and I can't see EU having predicted anything in its development of the concept. Just rephrase "stateless" not as "globalized Bond villain" but as "hasn't got a capital city you can occupy to win" and you have the obvious Vietcong parallel. It's obvious that today's interpretation articles like guide books draw parallels to today's situation, just like Luceno, Traviss and Lucas quote Bush era rhetoric and not Nixon era rhetoric (that wouldn't create as much of a reaction in the audience).

Well I don't know about famous, but "professional writer" fits into the purview of "high places", I think.

Here in the Chicagoland area, theres a Sports talk radio station I frequently listen to and one of the personalities is a SW fan. He's mentioned the EU a few times. Never gotten on the radio to talk to him or seen him at any events, but Id like to at some point to see how much of the EU he knows. Dont really think local radio is "high places" but thought it was worth a mention...

I saw a Darth Talon statue in Wolowitz's room in a Big Bang Theory episode recently. So kudos to the set decorator :)

Everyone always says this. I'm watching Firefly now, and no major character has died. I'm a scared :p

That's all I've seen from Whedon apart from The Avengers.

Can't speak for Firefly or Dollhouse, but I can only remember one major character who died on Buffy, which makes me wonder if Joss Whedon's reputation for killing all his characters is based solely on Angel. Which would be fair enough, I guess, considering the body count on that show.
