what kind of negative things about your job do you have to deal with? Do you get great health care, lots of vacation time. Do you get freebies like free lunch or free healthcare. Do you have all the opposite, or other stuff.

    Name of Job
    Positive effects
    Negative effects

    Automotive technician in a dealership
    Positive effects
I get discounts on all parts at any dealership and parts store.
I get discounts on rental cars
I get to repair my car for free
I get to clean my car for free
I get employee pricing on a new car
Can get out of some tickets
    Always learning, never stop
    Negative
    I get lousy insurance
only one week of vacation to start after one year. Two after two years
I have to repair my car when work is done. Not fun or easy after a hard day.
I have to pay for tools. Lots of them. Tool bills can be anywhere from 600 dollars a year to 2400 dollars a year.
    No AC in my shop

I rely on Hero Initiaive, not being outbid on ebay for vital, life saving medications, and Obama to heal me.

When they fail, my wife's coverage shames all three of my methods.

That thread made me laugh my ass off. I was 33 and 35 when I had my kids, and the idea that there would have been any benefit whatsoever to my having them younger, was hilarious.

I like my job. I get to recommend good books to kids, I get to buy Star Wars comics for kids to read without spending my own money, and I get to warn kids early on about the bat**** crazy conspiracy theorists whose websites might appear in a Google search.

what is the standard annual leave for the average american anyway? in the UK i get paid 27 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays (christmas, new year etc). i assume that's good.

as a bonus i get 15 paid study days per year, but that's not standard.

    Oh yeah...

Benefit: I only work a few hours a week during the summer.

The downside to that: I also don't get paid during the summer. I have a savings account that I use just for the summer months.

Sarcasm aside, I agree. Majority of my kids act like grown folks. It is heartbreaking knowing that they aren't enjoying their youth.

I work for the government. I'm literally not supposed to put any details about it online. And it's incredibly menial. Weird.
