PT Anyone else disappointed there was never a VHS release for Ep III?

I'm still disappointed that there never was a retail VHS release of Revenge of the Sith while there was VHS releases for Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Would have been nice to have Revenge of the Sith for VHS at the time retail though for those who wanted to have a complete VHS collection of the prequels

 

No. Mainly because I went with DVD for the PT from the start.

 

There was a RotS VHS, but it was only released in the UK.

 

DVD players were becoming much more popular then so that's probably why they never released it on VHS in the US.

 

I thought VHS went out of practice a little bit before then. I have TPM and AOTC on VHS so not having ROTS on VHS is a bummer.

 

Erm, yeah. Because God knows watching 1080p films at the same resolution as 480p Youtube vids is just funtastic.

 

Is the UK VHS retail of Revenge of the SIth the case covering for it is it clamshell?

 

I feel sorry for completists but remember how freakin long it took just to get TPM on DVD?

 

It's kind of funny how it took a almost a year for TPM to release on DVD because Lucas thought DVD wasn't worth it. Years later, ROTS only releases on DVD because VHS was going out.

False. DVD just didn't have enough market share. Lucas never denied the benefits of DVD.

 

Or maybe it was just that. Then again, it was my uncle to told me Lucas didn't like DVDs, and he's wrong just about as much as he's right about things like this.

 

Er, VHS tapes were all but obsolete when ROTS came out.

It was released in 2001.

 

I had TPM in VHS only, the final two on DVD (even in 2002).

 

I never rush onto new formats, but in year 2005 VHS here pretty obsolete. I used to have AOTC on VHS but some years later I purchased a DVD. Nope, dumping VHS was the right thing to do.

 

Attack of the Clones was both my last VHS and my first DVD.

 

DVD is a better format, especially since I ruined all of my SE and TPM VHS tapes (constant rewinding and fast forwarding).

 

Does anyone else think that the VHS cover artwork for Episodes I, II and III look MUCH better than the DVD versions?
They give me a solidly epic feeling that reminds me of old classics like Ben Hur and I like that a lot!

Lucas didn't doubt DVD but I remember in 1999 he was quoted as saying he would wait until after the trilogy was done before releasing any of them on video, and by then it would be on Blu Ray. It was the only news I saw for years that mentioned the Blu Ray format. This was also why I went to see TPM in theaters ten times. The TPM VHS was released April 2000 and even then there was criticism from fans about it not being put out on DVD, along with the Trilogy when it was released on VHS again about that time (and without the Special Edition name.) I didn't get a DVD player until early 2002 and felt like I was late to the whole thing. I knew people who had hundreds of DVDs by that time.
