To be fair, I accidentally posted in the wrong thread recently (and edited a minute later) and I won "Best Poster."

Mmm I don't think any of your votes would change anything. As in you mostly voted for the winners already or ones that were way too far behind.

Don't start me on how gobs***e the film was in comparison to the BBC series or the book. It was to the source what an abortion is to childraising.

Guillam is heading up the scalphunters. These are the assassins, burglars, kidnappers, and general thugs of the service. I believe Smiley refers to them as kosh and carry in one point.

In the book and the novel, Ricki Tarr lunges at Smiley and Guillam beats him silly. How Tom Hardy is ever meant to be scared of that oddly mis-shappen face, hewn from the rough oak of other faces, is beyond me.

Pope Benedict the Batch wasn't the worst thing about the film, but he was definately the most soiled character who was also the most mis-cast.

Didn't we already have this same conversation in PM? :p I admit I've not read the book and didn't mind the change in the character from the BBC mini-series, but I can see how that's a huge change that you would be pissed about if you liked the book. Fair enough. Though he didn't write the script, so definitely a casting thing.

It's not his fault that his posh ancestors have been intermarrying for 1000 years. He's a very odd-looking fellow, but hey, it worked for Frankenstein!

(Oh I didn't mind the film, though it's just so short and lacking depth relative to the source. It's not necessarily a feature of Le Carre films - recent adaptations like The Constant Gardner and Tailor of Panama proved that - but that book is too dense to make a complete, satisfying 2hr film.

However I am just trying to adhere to your edict of more sniping.)

Maybe they should have split it up into several movies: Tinker; Tailor; Soldier; Spy.

Oh, please, if you're looking for a horrid Le Carre movie, it's obviously The Tailor of Panama.
