I'm still here as well, but I didn't get that last TAG, Rick. I changed usernames a while back, so that's why.

I vote for a new thread if that's what everyone else is voting for.

And, Bardan_Jusik, that's not a bad idea, actually. I think we could make this kind of a hybrid thread, one where we can still do a game-like system but also make it more of a general Senate-like thread.

 

A new thread would definitely attract more attention. I agree with that.

I'm not sure we need a hybrid system like that. It might work, but it also seems to be working alright without it.
We could try it, in any case.

 

To be honest I am not advocating for such a change here. I just wanted to "go on record" with some of the differences between the EUC and SCW Senates.

 

I only suggested that because this kind of thread dies out after a few months every time we play it. And this is easily the fifth or sixth installment I've been a part of, and they all die out.

 

I am not in favor of having another senate like the EUC, but I do agree that something must be done to keep us all interested.

When I first joined an SWC Senate game, It was so much fun to role play in the different eras, and with different scenarios every month. We made motions, voted, sometimes just chatted among ourselves, and had a marvelous time. Personally, I would like to see the old ways return. Just because they stopped working at some point years earlier, doesn't mean that they won't work now. We have many new members on the boards now, and who knows? The original way of running a senate game just might be a hit. I believe that it's worth a try.

 

I would tend to agree. Keep this Senate an RP-lite game. Perhaps setting the game in a different era would help. An era more along the lines of when one of the two trilogies took place?

 

I like remaining in line with the established timelines of after ROTJ, but we should modify the game to make it more appealing to newer players, and to also keep the interest up.

Would setting up a pool of possible events for each new session, and incorportating the factions even further help?

 

I concur with Admiral Volshe on the timelines.

 

Who says we have to stay within the trilogies? We should be allowed to go wherever we want. I remember one chancellor who set up a Codor game scenario. Oh trust me, that one was a blast. All we need is Sinre's approval, and we could have a really great game.

 

I have no issue with us using different eras. All I am saying is that if we are trying to get more people to join the game why not tap the era that more people know the most about?

 

I'm sure people here would catch on

as I say experiance tells me that new users want to join if they don't see a huge intimidating thread

I am definitely in favor of having a pool of ideas to go to when we get stuck. I know that when I was Chancellor, many moons ago in an older game, I had a hard time coming up with something to bring up that everyone could discuss at length.

Not yet. Emperor Sinre has to giv us the "green light" before we can start a new thread. Ignoring His Imperial Majesty is not wise.

 

Well, er um, now we would do nothing to upset the Senate.

 

I suggest a storyline in the senate that focuses on a stand off of some kind between the alliance and the empire

make it a front issue, not a bordering elusive one

 

I think that could be arranged.
