No it's not a political statement about the european union :)

It's a question or a discussion please fill me in on your views here. But in the Expanded Universe, have any of the books dealt with Vampires in Star Wars.

We've had zombies in Red Harvest and Death Troopers but what about other monstrosities?

Do Anzati count? They are even called snot vampires... Droch I suppose kind of count as they are life suckers and Tgat one mutated Droch has some vampire like qualities to him. Or do you mean the more supernatural kind? Or simple bloodsuckers? Don't think we have seen vampire analogues in the EU beyond the Anzati. We do see vampire like effects though. I think Palpatine used to gorge himself on life energy of tourists on Byss by draining them through the Force.

Yeah there's "vampires" in Star Wars. Mostly the brain sucking type aliens that such on brains. Such as Dannik from New Hope where he shows on on screen in the bar and he's even in the Tales From Jabba's Palace short story novel. he goes aroundat night trying to find some brains to suck on

Vampires are stupid... No crossbreeding of Twilight and SW...

If the first thing you think of when you hear the word "vampire" is Twilight, I feel terribly sorry for you.

OK never got into Anne Rice, nor Dracula. I just don't see the point of them. Werewolfs are kind of cool, but even they aren't all that cool. Never been one for the hokey old scary things...

The only horror things I enjoy are Demons (Paranormal Activity) and the occasional well done Zombie (Walking Dead)
Vampires just don't do it for me...

Give George R.R. Martin's Fevre Dream a shot. Might be more up your alley. In my experience, it's never a good idea to discount an entire genre, be it with books, music or whatever; you'll almost always be surprised.

It's a classic literary idea - a creature or being that feeds off the life or essence of another.

Dracula is a great book. 'Salem's Lot starts out good but gets kind of dumb. I tried to read Twilight to fit in at school but it was so boring. The movies are much better.

That is the extent of my knowledge of vampire literature.

Keep in mind that to be vampiric doesn't mean that the "vampire" need to be a pale Human with fangs and a widow's peak. Vampires are parasites and come in all shapes and sizes. Leeches, tapeworms, mosquitoes, vampire bats, assassin bugs, horseflies, black flies... And the GFFA has plenty of similar creatures to fit the bill.

My wife dragged me to the last Twilight... hated the movie, loved the fight scene... She hated the fight scene, since "It wasn't in the book"

I'm pretty sure this isn't the first vampire thread, and I'm pretty sure someone posted this in the last one:

Beheading worked very well on vampires, by the way. Other way to get rid of them was to bury them face down, so that they dug themselves deeper and deeper when trying to get to the surface. Or was that the regular undead? Anyway, here's the Count you are looking for.

Especially when those... sparkly things don't even deserve to be called vampires. [face_not_talking]
The books are worse than the movies? Is... is that even possible?

So when is somebody in the EU/TCW eventually going to get around to homaging the (literal) hell out of this one?
