Hmm . . . the only things I can complain about are having to go to work tomorrow and stubbing my big toe. I need to get me some serious problems. :D

    Hope you feel better, Dantana!

Same here... minus the stubbed big toe. But I really don't want to go to work tomorrow! ;)

I just watched Taken 2 with Liam Neeson. I never watched the first one. What I took away from the movie is a life lesson for all teenaged girls. If you take driving lessons from your father, make sure it isn't in a cab in Istanbul.

LOL! I haven't seen it but I saw the first one. When I heard there was a second movie I thought, "Again?" How many times can she get kidnapped? It reminded me of Jack Bauer's daughter in the TV show 24. She was kidnapped multiple times, people tried to murder her and then she was menaced by a cougar. :p

I can't watch movies like that. Exaggerated action, if you ask me. My husband really liked the first part of Taken but he said the second part was awful. But he and I have very, very, VERY different tastes in movies. I loved Men in Black 3, for example. He thought it was boring because "nothing happened". Which basically means, not enough crap got blown up. :p

I am positive that my husband purposely hates movies I enjoyed. He was watching The Avengers yesterday. I told him it was a good movie. I had already went to see it in the theater with the kids. So he watches ten minutes and asks me if the rest of the movie will suck as much as the first part. I told him, "It's only the biggest grossing movie in freaking history...but don't watch it if you hate it." He likes to irritate me. I should have told him it was horrible and then he would love it. I don't let him read any of my fanfiction for that reason.

Fun story, my husband and I are watching 24 right now. The final season- Kim is cougar-free. [face_laugh] And Manhattan is safe from threat of a nuclear bomb. (speaking of exaggerated action...)

Taken was fine; did not need a sequel however.

Joe and I like some of the same movies but we tend to differ on a certain brand of action movie (he likes super-hero/comic book movies that don't tend to do much for me) and comedies.

I need to be in the right frame of mind for brainless action. My family is currently upstairs watching something like that. I didn't catch the title because I knew I wasn't going to watch it since I am 500-1000 words from finishing my novella! (Well, the first draft) I hope to finish it tonight!

As much as I want to, I've decided that I'm not going to start on my next original project till I'm done this semester (about the middle of April). I'm going to focus these next three months on editing, possibly a short fanfic (and my Dear Diary), and MAYBE some planing before I dive head-long into my novel. My poor brain needs a break,

Well, my thought through a lot of Star Wars EU was "Really? You'd think they'd know better by now!"

I'm on day...16 of pneumonia and not feeling better yet.

I'm back on semi-solid food, but restricted to simple starches like potatoes and toast, at least until I see the doctor on Monday. *sigh* Good thing potatoes are my favourite, right?

I'm still worried about you, Ish. But, y'know, they gave me meds for my bronchitis, and it still lasted three weeks. I felt like bantha poodoo for all three of those weeks. I think they should have given you stronger antibiotics. When I had pneumonia in 2011, they gave me this stuff that was just three pills, but each was the strength of ten regular doses. It knocked that crap right out.

Ick. Potatoes - I am the worst Irish descendant ever. But I hope you two get feeling better.

When I had pneumonia, I was in the hospital for a week and home from school for like two weeks. I was 6 at the time - it was not fun.

Also, I can't post this on facebook (yet... since it's a surprise for a friends birthday) but I AM FINALLY FINISHED MY NOVELLA. Someone break out the confetti and alcoholic beverages. I have a ton of editing and I still have to figure out if I am going to even attempt to publish this.

Thanks. I think that may be my best option considering the length and the slightly controversial subject matter, but I'm also going to look into some small Canadian publishers.

Congrats, Brianna! What's the novel about? I find "slightly controversial subject" very intriguing. ;)

Not sure if talking about this goes against any of the thread rules, but it touches on a number of topics such as suicide, a bit on assisted suicide (can a physically disabled person ask for help in committing suicide), but it's mainly about homosexuality and the church. It's from the POV of an extremely disabled teenager, who is a genius, but because the world thinks she has the mental capability of an infant, she doesn't see the point in living until her mother dies and she is sent to live with her gay father.

Many publishers won't publish anything with religious topics and Christian publishers won't touch topics like this. And on top of everything, it's 30,000 words long, so it's no where near being a short story and it falls way short of being a novel. I know if it is published, either by a company or myself, it will be a ebook.

Congratulations and well done for finishing the novella! That's awesome!

That sounds really interesting! But you're right, it might be difficult to get published. I have no idea what genre that would even fall into. Although there are some publishers that will publish controversial stuff, even specialise in it. You just have to do some research, I guess. There are tons of small e-publishers out there now which might be worth a look. Always check them out via Preditors & Editors though, you don't want to get ripped off.

Self-publishing is always an option, of course. I know several people who've done that, and at least one of them I know for sure has been really successful with it.

Manhattan? Wasn't Los Angles the city that was threatened by a nuclear bomb? I didn't watch past the cougar season. Were there two nuclear bombs?! Homeland Protection needs to get on the ball. Jack Bauer must be doing shots of Red Bull all the time to get that much adventure in 24 hours.

If it was my life it would look like this:
    THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN:
0001 hours and 0700 hours: Sleeping
    0700-0900: Getting children to school
0900-1500: Sleeping and surfing the net
1500-1700: Picking kids up from school
    1700-1200: Watching TV
(I was sick this week, so this pretty much is exactly what I did)

I think I would prefer that lifestyle to being kidnapped by Russian Terrorists, escape but be picked up by white slave traders, attacked by a mountain lion, defuse a nuclear bomb, bring kids to school, be stalked by serial killer, defuse a second nuclear bomb, pick up kids from school, fight off angry sharks with lasers on their heads, then finally get to sleep.

    24 started getting ridiculous.

Ah, well LA was threatened by a nuclear bomb in season 2... and then in season 6 one actually went off somewhere in the LA metro area. In season 7, they realized that they'd used up all the interesting greater-LA scenery and moved the show to DC, and season 8 is in New York.

There's a couple-hour intro movie to season 7 that takes place in Africa. I always felt that should have just started the clock and half of that season could have been Jack on an airplane getting back to the US.
0300-0400- trying to sleep while subtly fighting for his armrest with his neighbor
0400-0500- Chloe & co saving the world in DC
0500-0505- Jack tries, fails, to open bag of airline peanuts- [insert typical Jack expletive here]

Sorry you are still feeling bad, Ish. Depending on the type of pnuemonia, it can take some time and antibiotics might not work very well.

Congrats Briannakin! That sounds very interesting! (It's okay to talk about it here as long as it's not something that is posted on the net or you aren't trying to sell it yet. :) )

I never watched 24, for some reason Kiefer Sutherland bothers me... I have no idea why.

Congrats Brianakin. Here in the Netherlands I have seen a lot of controversial stuff being published.
Never watched 24. It's on one of the commercial stations and has interruptions with long commercials and begins again and you wonder if there is something missing. Happens with movies too and that's the reason why I wait for the DVD's

If this is day 16 of that pnuemonia, and you're NOT feeling better yet, it's time to go BACK to the doc, Ish. You should be feeling better by now, especially if you've been on antibiotics.

Edit: Or what Mav said, too... it totally can take a while.

No, I completely agree! It never hurts to at least contact the doctor and say I'm still not feeling well. They may be able to change something, or they may just say be patient, but it's better to be safe than sorry. It does sometimes take weeks for people to get over pneumonia even with antibiotics... it depends on all sorts of factors.

I would have loved it if Jack had been stuck in traffic for an hour on "24". Do that split screen thing showing everyone else doing stuff, and Jack is sitting there, in rush hour, screaming "The light's green! Drive your car!"

The one thing I did learn from 24- no matter where you are going, what time of day... it only takes 15 minutes to get from point A to point B as long as you are in greater Los Angeles.
