Okay, so we had a LOTR vs Star Wars, now let's see which you like better between Harry Potter and Star Wars

I love Star Wars, but i grew up with Harry Potter when the first book was released back in '97 so i take Potter over Star Wars

    What are ur opinions?

Well I haven't seen all the Potter films so I wont give my opinion as to which Saga of films I prefer but I read the Potter books and I like them for what they are: splendid stories of good against evil, of friendship and hope written by J.K Rowling which I consisder to be a mistress of storytelling. It's a pleasure to read and I found hard to get out of them once you start reading them.

Star Wars is... Star Wars. Do I need to say more?

I ask the following clarifying question: What criteria are we basing this judgment on?

Kinda hard to compare novel adaptations to straight up movies imo.

    Star Wars movies>Harry Potter movies.
Are comparing the novelizations of both sets of movies as well?
    Novel wise ROTS>Harry Potter 1-5 and 7> Rest of Star Wars=HP 6.

I prefer to go by the original source, which is the novels. Stuff gets lost sometimes in adaptations.

And in the case of Harry Potter, a lot of stuff gets left out

Why on earth are these threads cropping up all of a sudden? They're annoying and don't contribute much to anyone's understanding of the world (The majority of people on a Star Wars forum prefer Star Wars? I never knew...).

As rumssmuggler rightly said and as I have already pointed out in the thread LOTR vs Star Wars, it doesn't seems fit to compare novels adaptations with originally created film. It becomes a biased comparison as one of the subject is an adaption not so much as a creation as is Star Wars. I do not want to take anything away from the Potter films and I haven't seen them all anyway but Harry Potter is at it's roots, seven books written by J.K Rowling. It is no such cases with Star Wars whose script is originally written by it's film maker: George Lucas

I think it will be more suitable if you ask which Universe, which world people prefer. Then you will probably get more accurante and less confusing answers.

I prefer Star Wars. Harry Potter was okay, I love the books but nothing I would be a die hard fan for. Star Wars will always rank #1 for me.

    what I find funny is

LOTR vs Star Wars gets a semi serious disscussion

    this one doesn't

to me I'm reading Harry Potter= Childish

no more childish than mob slugs and coughing droid generals folks

I must disagree. Harry Potter deals with death, abuse, racism, standing up for yourself, the world is more complex than just good and bad etc
