I thought a dramatic change in continuity was the fairly obvious result.

 

It's about time a woman took the lead role in SW. They've been nibbling around the edges for years.

Um, I have a dumb question, who is Nomi Skywalker?

 

The initial draft of Star Wars had a heroine as a lead named Nomi Starkiller. This ultimately became Luke Skywalker in rewrites... and Nomi became Luke's sister in the original conception for a sequel trilogy, before Leia was turned into the sister in RoTJ.

Wow. Really!?!?! That is something I did not know. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Assuming this is true about the name Nomi, I gaurantee that the name Nomi Skywalker will be one if the characters. That is exactly how Lucas works. He takes old names that he discards and then uses them in a later movie.

 

Wasn't the original "sister" of Luke supposed to be named Nellith Skywalker?

 

I hope we get a female lead and I love Chloe Moretz so that'd be the icing on the cake for me.

 

Moretz is a talented young actress, and she stole the show in KICK ASS. So I'm all for it.

Yes it does, if he's pitching Chloe Mortez as the main character in the ST, he's read the scripts for VII from Arndt/Lucas. Why else would he have chased after VII if he didn't know what he would be directing? And why would he have any pitch on the screenplay when Arndt is already on it?

Our main hero is a female, simple as. Whether or not it's a Skywalker or a Solo, remains to be seen.

 

Or he could have been pitching that she play the female lead character that is in all Star Wars movies. I mean it is an ensemble after all.

Plus, this rumor is coming from slashfilm, where that whole Peter Scriella stuff came from. So I am taking it with a grain of salt. The dude was also positive that Jon Favreau was going to be the director(to be fair, so did I).

 

I think she will be a fantastic lead for SW anytime! The Kick Ass movie shoulda been renamed as Hit-Girl the movie! I hope she gets the role!

Yeah, I agree with that. With Star Wars being as important as it is I find it (very) hard to believe that Disney and Kennedy would allow any director to make such drastic changes. I also think this is near confirmation that the main protagonist is female.

 

Never heard that one... It's possible... I don't pretend to be an expert, just a collector of obscure and odd facts.

 

If true, this could take some of the sting out of the Abrams announcement for me. Very talented girl - I'd love to see her lead a Wars flick.

 

Naomi would be better. She could be a Intergalactic supermodel who likes to beat up Coruscanti paparazzi and verbally abuse her assistants.

 

I say - awesome! If the lead is a female character, I'd be more than happy with Chloe Moretz in the role.

I'd be happy with Chloe. By Ep 9 she will be all grown up and kicking ass!
