Rumor North Kent quarry earmarked for Star Wars movie location

Why can't it be filmed in New Zealand? Why can't every single movie be filmed there?

 

Who knows. I was under the impression that JJ filmed almost exclusively in the continental US (with Hawaii for the LOST pilot being the obvious exception).

 

Why can't it be filmed in Minnesota? Minnesota is a nice state. I live there and stuff.

 

Okay so I think people are getting things in confused in here with what newspapers have said and what they haven't said.

What they have said:
-That supposedly North Kent Quarry in England will be used for the filming of Star Wars Episode VII's battle scenes.

What they have NOT said:
-The church in Herne Bay will be a filming location.
It was mentioned in this article where C-3PO and R2-D2 were spotted near it in preparation for a "science fiction festival" this June.

-Anthony Daniels and the original cast were spotted in Kent.
The same article as above says that C-3PO was spotted and people involved with the making of Star Wars will be attending the festival.

What they have said but is ambiguous to what it means:
-Darth Maul will be in Episode VII.
This article from The Sun says "Episode VII of the Star Wars series — which features evil Darth Maul — is due out in 2015." What that possibly could have meant is that Darth Maul is featured in the series, not in Episode VII. They probably just included Darth Maul in that sentence because of the picture they photoshopped with him holding shopping bags in front of the shopping mall near the North Kent Quarry. It is possible that the other articles talking about Darth Maul just misinterpreted the original article which may or may not have even be claiming Darth Maul is going to be in Episode VII.

Now granted, I just now all of that from reading the different articles, and I do not know anything about rumors being developed and sightings of cast members from people in the actual area of Kent.

 

Maybe Darth Maul is in the article because the quarry is next to a mall.

anyway, if he's in it - that's an excellent way to kill all my expectations for this.

The fact that there is a Star Wars or Sci-Fi convention there soon pretty much debunks this for me. I don't know how they do things across the pond, but here in the USA Con promoters rank right down there with used car salesmen and lawyers, and would do anything to drum up ticket sales for their event.

Just sayin'..........

 

I certainly wouldn't trust anything from the Sun or the daily mail both are hideous excuses for newspapers. As for trusting local newspapers bear this in mind, my local had a front page headline and a whole page spread inside about how someone thought they saw Brad Pitt in their village shop but didn't. The story even acknowledged it wasn;t him but they still managed to make a 2 page story out of essentially nothing!

 

Actually, duh, on my part, I hadn't even considered that part of it. Yeah, it makes sense that he would have somewhere else to go when he's not killing Jedi dogs or Rebel scum.

If not, maybe Yavin. It's possible that they decided to go here for cost reasons instead of the original location. If so, I really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see a Jedi Academy! With Kyp, Corran and Kyle!

 

Looks like a location that would be perfect for a Jedi Academy. This or New Zealand! Anyone else thinks its strange the original 3 havnt commented on the news of the new director Its a good sign.
