I love the idea of Boba Fett and young Han Solo movies but maybe the jumps in the time periods will confuse the public

Any more than Episode IV in 1977 and Episode I in 1999?

I've got problems with these spinoffs but honestly this isn't (and shouldn't) be one of them. John Q. Public isn't sitting at his desk grappling with this terribly confusing timeline. For one, no one cares. Second, it isn't that tough to be like--oh this is a prequel...this is when Han was young. Pretty simple concept. These films have never been released in order.

I don't like the idea of a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford. He is Han Solo. Han Solo is no James Bond, you can't recast him.

Does it mean that Solo will survive Episode 7 (you can't kill him, while making an origin story).

I did not like the idea of spin-off movies and I was afraid that Disney would go that route (Solo, the younger years)

It will have a negative effect on the saga overall and the mythical aspect of Han.

Do we really need to know everything about a character??

So much new characters could make good spin-off movies........I'm tired of all these "origin stories"

We will miss good old George.......

There is a rumour that Han will get his own spin-off film, with the current thinking being that it will be an origins story.

So who would you put up as our new Han Solo?

One rumour was Bradley Cooper and I've got to say that he would be my choice.

Before the PT I said that there is no way they can re-cast Obi-Wan, Alec Guinness owned that role.

....and then Ewan did a great job...

I have to disagree. I think Cooper is too old. Han was 35 in ANH so I'd like to see an actor about 20-25 play the role. Then when he doesn't look exactly like Ford at least you could say it's because he was 10-15 years younger.

Maybe this Han Solo origins will have Chewbacca just because he won't be in Episode VII

I've already been hearing mention of Garrett Hedlund around the interwebs - I liked him in Tron Legacy, and I heard he was good in On The Road, so I might be open to him.

I'm hoping for a fresh new talent so we dont have to be all "Oh look its *insert well known actor* as Han Solo"

Also...lets see how long it takes for the first "Nobody but Harrison" or "CGI him up" post happens.

Remember this though, this is still a rumor. There is no real evidence to suggest that we're getting a Han Solo or a Boba Fett movie, everyone is reporting off Entertainment Weekly.

Who on earth can possibly play Han Solo? Lets just hope that some dork like Channing Tatum does not get the job.

Agreed 100% on Harrison Ford is Han Solo.

As for the last comment, the original press release seemed to indicate George had his hand pretty deep in this spin-off idea. I'm sure his treatments for those helped push that price tag up to $4B.

i think both ideas are cool in theory. The idea of seeing Vader between Ep 3 and 4 is very cool. I mean, that's what many fans wanted to see in the first place, even thought these will not be Vader's story.

Garrett Hedlund has very similar features to Harrison Ford and IMO he is a very good actor. He's the only one I can imagine at this point.
