Nice work! Only 6-12 more weeks to go before the nicotine receptors in your brain return to normal!!! (but it's very front loaded. Getting through these first few days is key)

 

Don't know if you posted this already - but roughly how many years have you been a regular smoker?

 

23 years...

Last year of high school, actually.

But I'd already been smoking up for about a year. Don't tell the kids.

Have you walked by someone yet who was recently smoking and taken in that smell you relized you smelled like?

 

I smelled a really bad smell today, and I was thinking 'this person smells awful' - and then I realized I was smelling my own coat.

...I brought it to the launderette.

 

The worst break up I ever had was with a smoker. Everything I owned smelled like her cigarettes for months afterwards. I was and am a strong believer in amicable parting of ways (or is it "partings of way"?), so one of many cruel things I sometimes wanted to tell her but never did was that her mouth always, always tasted like ashtray. At best it tasted like toothpaste and ashtray.

 

I allowed the relationship to go on so long only because she was really good at Scrabble.

Anyway, if only I was doing as well with my rowing marathon training as you are doing with not smoking. In a sense I'm doing as well, because I haven't rowed for as many days as you haven't smoked. I'm too ashamed to go back to the 2013 fitness thread.

 

I think you're doing great. I haven't rowed since I started smoking.

But I'll tell you, some generic fitness thread will not motivate as much as your very own dedicated thread. Can't beat that. Seriously, a thread like this provides the most constant peer pressure you can imagine. Without this thread, I could have lapsed already.

i totally agree. i started mine when i was right on the brink of lapsing and it got me through a lot of the tougher moments. not only was the support great, but also the not wanting to sheepishly crawl back into the thread and tell everyone that i failed.

 

Thanks, but you're right - they disappoint. They're just too soft, so you just gobble them all up in no time.
I'm getting Chokotoffs tomorrow. Those mothers are chewy.

I was on the subway today; everyone was ugly and stinky. Why do people leave their lip hanging like that? Why don't they wash? Why don't they diet? Why don't smokers have their own wagon to stink in?
Public transport really sucks when you're grumpy.

hang in there, superwatto. days 3-5 are the absolute worst. it doesn't get easy after that, but it does get easier.
