Full Series Creation of species in TCW

Jeez. harsh. And again, my point is the names. To be perfectly honest, Belugans look more like mice or moles than anything else. And don't hate on talking dinosaurs .

I dislike Tiggs as well. BTW, Tera Sinube has a species name, Cosian. Another character based of unused concepts is the Patrolian (another TCW species that I absolutely ADORE)

 

Oh yeah the Patrolians were great! It's a shame we haven't seen them in a while.

Star Wars isn't exactly filled with the most original aliens sometimes, but it works.

 

So many of them are a play on animals people fear.

 

I didn't even know the Gungan and Duros. You know, maybe I should start a thread about the unoriginality of species in general...

 

And I'm guessing Admiral Trench came from a Taranchula, which I'm not going to post a pic of because I can't stand spiders, that pic under Po Nudo is horrible enough.

 

True, but I see no reason to complain about the names. I mean what is the big deal since they are not even mentioned most of the times on the show.


PS:You guys are forgetting the vile Ewoks - they are the worst animal lookalikes.

He doesn't indeed, but he is from quite an interesting new alien species...

 

I would love to write a reference guide to identify all these characters lacking species.

 

Back in the day Yoda's species was unknown, that's what it says in the 1996 Essential Guide to Characters.

Most of the above are all original designs not as explicitly influenced by earth creatures like Riff Tamson (Shark) or Lurmen (raccoons).

One of my only disappointments for season 5 so far is that we've only seen two new species created for TCW (Zilkins and Pykes). In previous seasons we've seen so many new species introduced to the series.

Personally, I rather like that they keep making new species. Expanding the universe as it were.

Though I do have to admit I wonder why they go and make a new model for a minor background character and never use them again, even in crowd scenes.

Especially the Anacondans - the two guys from that species that we saw looked completely different.

I wonder where they got the name Terrelian Jango Jumper from. It sounds pretty odd, even for a SW species; I think Terrelian would have sufficed.

 

Yep. Another point is that I'm fine with making new species. But they're not even recycled, we see them once and that's the end of them. I would love a Karkarodon in the Dark Times series or the Upcoming Legacy series, as a Pyke or two. Games as well. New species are OK, if they're not disposed of after a while.

On another note, there's too many unidentified species in TCW. A lot were listed above. Some EU writer could change that, either make them a new species, or identify them as an existing species.

 

I agree. It sounds like a name for a non-sentient species.

 

Although I agree, there are some other species, like the Sock-headed worm people, that have pointless names.
