I know it suppose to be three years but I count four (more time to fit in the media projects)?
    22 BBY
    21 BBY
    20 BBY
    19 BBY
    What do you think?

Four years? That's not very ambitious. Eventually they'll decide that TPM took place in 42 BBY and that the Clone Wars were ten years long. It'll be like the siege of Troy, IN SPACE.

According to George Lucas, it's exactly "two or three years".

    So there's your G-canon answer.

That would mean that it lasts through the bulk of both 22 BBY and 19 BBY, rather than between them. There's room, I think, for a retcon to that effect if anyone ever deems it necessary, but right now the official line is still three years - 22 to 21, 21 to 20, and 20 to 19.

Yeah, I'm going with three years as well, plus an extra couple of weeks just to give a bit more time for all the various events and conflicts.

According to George Lucas, Han Solo also shot first.

But G-canon has a habit of changing its mind. :p

It was supposed to be 3 years, as that was exactly the same amount of time between ep 2 and 3's release. Therefor, content covering the war was supposed to come out "in real time" as if it was happening in the SW galaxy simultaneously.

It didn't quite work that way, but that's where the ABG calender period of months 1 through 36 came from. Even with the new content, the war is still 3 years long. We just fit a lot more content into that time period.

For a galaxy wide civil war that even Luke has heard off a few years doesn't seem long enough to me

But WW1 was a horrific experience in which millions of people enlisted and then were dying by the thousand everyday. It effected Nations and peoples and it after effects would start the way for WW2.

TCW is just a war between robots and clones and does not have that same intensity

The Clone Wars were basically the lead-into the reorganizing of the Republic into the First Galatic Empire. That makes it kind of a thing that is important on a galactic scale. Can't have WWII without WWI, y'know what I mean?

Saw what you did there :)

What next, clips of a short bearded guy telling a tall bored guy to say that he will not betray the republic

9/11 happened over the course of several hours and "only" about 3,000 people in one country were killed.

What are the odds a 19-year-old farmboy living in Macedonia a decade from now still knows the basics of what happened, especially given the titanic geopolitical events the attack precipitated?

Also, there were non-clone, non-droid soldiers on both sides, we just don't see them very often. And war on a GALACTIC scale is sure to affect civilian life in many places in significant ways.

When did AOTC come out? 2002?

If so, we have been living in the Clone Wars for 11 years. It is high time that the war ended OOU.

I have a rule in fiction: if there's a war, it's always much bloodier and much more horrific than what's shown on screen. I mean, the Clone Wars is between robots and clones with guns that go pew pew, but millions still died, and I'm sure plenty of villages, nations and planets were burned to the ground. But, y'know, it's gotta be PG-13 :p

Also we should all start using the singular verb form with "the Clone Wars" -- that is, until they finally show us the Second Clone War that we all know will be happening. You know, the one involving the mad clones and making everybody in the (Bantam) galaxy so terrified of clones.
