i have never seen community or big bang because i don't really care for sitcoms. they are typically light entertainment, which doesn't really do much for me. breaking bad i love, of course. i just watched the first season of game of thrones and i like it very much. i started watching the walking dead but once i realized we were going to spend a lot of time with some really terrible characters i bailed. that was around the middle of season 1.

 

There's nothing that I watch. I caught some Sherlock Holmes episodes, but thought they were devoid of tension, of suspense. Holmes's powers of observation are turned into a snappy gimmick.

Downton Abbey, a period soap, depresses me. I like the dog, though.

Superhero films, or stuff about zombies, drugs, the CIA, fantasy kingdoms, are instantly given a miss.

I used to watch Dr. Who, back in the '70's what it was on before Monty Python on PBS. I was just waiting for Monty Python.

 

I absolutely loathe 'reality' shows (things like Survivor, the Kardashians, anything Paris Hilton's ever done, etc.,). I think most of them are trash and it doesn't surprise me that most 'reality' crap is scripted.

The opening post should provide a framework that the discussion can build upon. You want to get others to invest their time into the discussion, so do that a little bit in your introduction to the topic, too! You don't need to write an essay, but at least one or two paragraphs that give some of the basic background of the topic you'd like to discuss, and then some of the questions you'd like to have addressed or your take on that background you've just provided.

First and foremost, we want to hear what it is YOU think and WHY. Simply stating what you think without explaining why doesn't leave much for other people to discuss, nor does it help other people understand your viewpoint. Your post doesn't have to be long, but it should be effective at conveying what you think about the discussion and why.
