Silver Linings Playbook. I thought the first half to two-thirds was really well done and Jennifer Lawrence was great throughout, but it ended just a bit too neatly.

He's all over the place right now. He's the new Beast in the X-Men films and he's in Jack the Giant Slayer.

Bullet To The Head... it was completely ridiculous (and the way Stallone has built himself up... good grief, he looks like an alien), as I expected, but entertaining enough. *** out of ****.

Really? It's getting really good reviews and I like Soderbergh. What was terrible about it?

i like him too. a lot. i think i went into it ready to take it seriously when i really shouldn't have. so, so many cheesy moments, and i really don't like this new, underlit style. i guess it is supposed to seem naturalistic but to me it is the opposite. anyway, it was basically a steady stacking-up of things that rubbed me wrong.

Huh well that's too bad. I'll still see it, but most likely on DVD. You know he's retiring after this film right?

Tron: The original. It's dated but still charming. I actually really enjoyed it, and holy moly Jeff Bridges was so flippin' young. Still waiting for Tron 3 to happen.[face_waiting]

    Wreck-It Ralph

I thought it was well done, lots of clever homages to video games and a well rendered and voiced movie overall. By no means Disney's best, but it was pretty decent entertainment.

Top Gun (IMAX 3D)- $15 for about 45 mins of dogfighting and F-14 porn in 3D IMAX. Totally worth it. The footage is grainy at times but a lot of the footage clearly translates well to the larger format.

Of course, it did start to make me wonder just how many times they were going to replay those same 3 songs during the runtime of the movie...

I enjoyed the cameo appearance of Starscream in the film, which I hadn't noticed before.

Also, I had to wonder why the radar guy was so sweaty all the time. Is he staring at a display screen or a space heater? ;)

Anyways, it's an enjoyable macho cheesefest with a pretty sweet cast. Kelly McGillis the only weak link- I never felt she clicked quite right (Meg Ryan is better in her small role).

A shame Scott's death likely means the proposed sequel won't be happening. The ending to this movie would have set up that concept well.

I can't really watch Top Gun anymore. It seemed good at the time but it just seems horrid to me now. Kelly McGillis hates having anything to do with it now. She got very defensive about even talking about during a local radio interview.

i just watched "how to survive a plague" and "the invisible war" back to back. not the most uplifting double feature, but two great, powerful, important films.
