Just watched Super 8 again last night, and for the love of Hovis, the gratuitous over use of lens flares in that film is the biggest joke I could think of (still enjoyed the movie tho)

 

Less of a joke, but more on "how they are made":

Opening Crawl: Abrams Style!

 

So I was watching a bunch of Alias episodes, when I suddenly realized something obvious in the opening credit sequence. That... well, see for yourself.

 

Man i counted like 150000 in under a minute but Thor got rid of most of them! When he blew up everything!

 

Damn Him! He even put it in the Fringe Intro! Sneaky fox! JJ you are going to make the world go Blind!



BTW! I miss you Fringe!

I seem to remember a couple when obi and qui-gon were discussing anakin being rejected by the council....

 

Still one of the best opening sequences in film history.

 

I wonder if abrams has glasses with heavy glare issues so he thinks that everyone sees the world with lense flares

 

This just in, most of the characters in EP VII will be bald. This will allow more opportunities for lens flares.

Abrams is trying to see how to get a good lens flare off of leia's metal bikini.

 

How about a shot of Jaina's boobs but they're just huge flashlights!!

is there any news on whether JJ has been confronted about this and what he has to say about it??

 

He's been dodging questions by having people shine flashlights at the camera when someone approaches him.

 

I just started watching that new Total Recall and it has the same kinds of lens flaring as in Star Trek. I don't think I'm just more aware after all the press but they could just be a part of the new modern film language like shaky cam. Still, it should be easy to avoid if J.J. Abrams wants to, since his method was to actually have someone on set shining a light into the camera.
