Carrie has aged really well actually. La Lohan looks much older than she does.

I agree, she looks great for her age. Some people get goofy about age, we ALL get older. If the 3-4 actors in question actully lived in the Star Wars universe, Im pretty sure they would look the same as they do right now so if the timeline is correct, why wouldn't we want them back?! Alec Guiness was old when he was Obi-wan & even as a 8 yr old kid I had no problem accepting him as a powerfull Jedi!

I don't think I could have a Star Wars film thats a sequel to the OT without the original trio in some form. Particularly Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker.

Before I post my intended comment, I want to make clear that I would love to see Fisher, Hamill, Ford, Williams, et al. reprise their roles in the ST. That said...

I don't remember anyone concerned that there were different actors for the same characters from one trilogy to another (ie. PT to OT). No one cared that Alec Guiness played an older Obi-Wan in the OT vs. Ewan McGregor. No one cared that David Prowse was Vader in the OT vs. Christiansen. Or that Owen and Beru Lars were played by different actors/actresses. Or Tarkin.

So, if that was acceptible, why not new actors for Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, etc.? I'm sure they could find someone that would be close enough to be convincing. That would also allow them to not have to jump 30 or so years post-RotJ, but just 10-20.

    A) Because the prequal trilogy is set 20 - 30 years before the OT.

    B) Hayden earned the 'right' to wear the suit (the fact that Prowse would have been too ill to walk unassisted, and his 'falling out' with Lucasfilm notwithstanding).

    C) Peter Cushin, Alec G, et all are dead...

    D) No Mark as Luke, no Carrie, no Harrison, no Peter M even as cameos passing the torch? Not likely me either...

Psst. DB. Yeah, my comments were meant to be tongue-in-cheek about PT to OT. I wasn't born yesterday and I didn't just get off the turnip truck. I was merely pointing out that they could still do the same characters with different actors/actresses and it could (notice I didn't say "would") still work. We must also keep in mind that the ST will create new SW fans that may have never seen the PT or OT, so when they go back and watch them it probably won't be a big deal to them who the actors/actresses were in each trilogy. And since most of those new fans will be pretty young, they probably won't realize that several of the actors/actresses from the OT (or middle trilogy to them) had died. *shrug*

I just like putting "possibilities" out there for people here to think about and discuss. It's fun. And it doesn't mean that everything I post is what I want to happen. Again, just putting it out there.

Oh yeah, the day I start taking things here seriously is the day I turn in my "I'm a Star Wars Fan, but not a fruitbat about it" card (like the lady who dressed up in her 'Enterprise Uniform' for jury duty).

I DO enjoy tweaking the noses of those who expect the new movies to abide by the EU as if by disregarding even a single scrap of it means teh world is ending though...

We have a loooooooooong time to speculate and play about - heck, a meteor could hit during a writer's meeting and vaporise the whole thing - ya don't know, but I'm just along for the ride too... ;)

We'll they did find some great actors in the PT who really looked as if they could morph into the actors in the OT for all those parts I'll give em that. (especially Ewan McGregor, he was great!) But as they were going backwards instead of forwards they had to (ya ever see those sitcoms where the actors are telling a flashback story and they just take the old guy n put a moustache and long hair on em LOL).

But going forward in THIS "EPISODE" story line, it would be a big gamble to not to use the originals. I kinda get what wookiebk is saying tho about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (even tho i kinda like it but not near as much as Raiders!). It would be hard to use all those original actors other the Hamill in the same way they were used in the OT, following them all constantly through the movie, but I wouldnt think the story would do so anyway. Leia, Han & Lando would be great to see in EP.7 in small supporting roles. But Hamill is a MUST have in this movie!

I have no problem with it being set 30 years in the future, they've already said there will be standalone movies so there is plenty of space to explore any point in the timeline with replacement actors but not in this 1st movie! Hamill in Jedi robes with the full facial hair is the way to go! The fact that he hasn't done many major movies since that actually sort of preserves is role. Lucas was able to get away with doing whatever he wanted because he is Star Wars, but Disney knows this 1st movie is kind of a "make, or break" movie and Im sure they are going to knock this one outta the park. (my opinions only, write your own lol)

Harrison Ford Returning for Star Wars: Episode VII?

    Source: Latino Review
    February 15, 2013

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=100439

Just a few weeks after the announcement of Star Wars: Episode VII, it was reported that Harrison Ford was open to the idea of returning as Han Solo. Now, Latino Review is reporting that the deal is complete and Ford will reprise his role as the Corellian smuggler. There is no confirmation from Disney about the actor's involvement, but check back for any updates on the story.
The 70-year-old actor is still going strong at the movies, having recently starred in Cowboys & Aliens and he's set for upcoming appearances in Ender's Game, 42 and Paranoia.
It was also reported last month that Disney is looking into creating stand-alone films set in the Star Wars universe and one of them would be about a young Han Solo. What this news means for that potential film remains to be seen.
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015. J.J. Abrams will direct the film from a script by Michael Arndt. Disney and Lucasfilm are planning a new trilogy with a new movie coming every other year.

I think this means that Harrison Ford will get his great death scene for Han Solo. I do not see him living beyond episode VII. With Chewbacca's presence in Episode VII there will be much scrambling in the EU.

No, but remember most casual fans will expect to have him around. These fans have no clue about the EU. I suppose that it can be mentioned that he died without going into detail. If Han Solo appears, the majority of people will expect to see Chewbacca.

Considering the fangasms of Chewie being in E3, it's a pretty good bet he'll be in E7 - Whoops, there goes the EU....[face_clown]

Yeah, really. The Wook is very popular. Even at the Disney parks during Star Wars Weekends and other themed events (such as Last Tour to Endor), he was a huge hit. Disney would be foolish not to place him in there, especially if Han is coming back.
