Lit A/V Clone Wars Continuity Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

Ugh. The comparison is a clear example of homage. I posted the pic to make that clear. There is no fine line here. The similarities are so blatantly obvious that if it was a ripoff, a lawsuit would be in order.

I can only conclude you don't know mutch about homage, another than a surface level definition that anyone with an internet connection can look up.

Not even sure why I am bothering to press this issue. Ignorance bothers me, I guess. Opinions are one thing, but accusations presented as fact are something else.

But you keep beating that dead horse. I have no doubt you will continue to find others who agree with you, thus reinforcing your ignorance.

Literally a scene by scene usage is not a rip off but an homage?

I think we have different views on this subject man. When a particular TCW episode copies an entire scene from a different movie: that's no homage. It's a rip off.

 

Come on, guys. It's obvious a great little easter egg for all the children watching the show - "Hey, this scene is just like the one in the movie The Fugitive!" What kid wouldn't get that reference?

 

There's no doubt that TCW likes to use scenes from films for its own benefit.

• I note that the Republic military base concept art is using the six-sided Republic cog, instead of the eight-sided one. Nice. Though, sadly, the final episode uses the eight-sided version.
• Apparently this droid is named MR-T3.
• I completely missed this: "Also held in the Republic military prison, according to the security monitors, are Emir Wat Tambor (captured at the end of Season One), Poggle the Lesser (captured in Season Two) and General Whorm Loathsom (captured in The Clone Wars movie), and a tactical droid."
• "The monument at the center of the Republic military base plaza is an enormous slab of Geonosian rock that lists the names of the clone troopers that fell in action in the first battle of the Clone Wars." Aha. Cool.

Which ends up being their number-designations.

 

What Separatist Council? Oh, you mean those councils seen in AOTC ad ROTS? Those were just completely random gatherings of individuals who may or may not be affiliated with the Confederacy, which is really just a nickname for the Separatist Alliance.

Interesting behind the scene documentary about "The Jedi Who Knew too Mutch." Among the things Filoni discusses is the final scene, describing it, among other things as an obvious nod to The Fugitive. So some similar images, but very different dialogue, purpose, meaning, and outcome. The is why, among other reasons, it is a homage and not a ripoff.

It's more than "different views," it is a lack of understanding of what a homage is. But of course the clip won't help to change anyone's understanding if they don't know what an homage is in the first place.

Again, not sure why I am bothering. Avoiding work for a bit to discuss Star Wars, perhaps.

So I 'just' secured my Ticket to SDCC. Going to the Star Wars Lit and Clone Wars panels are now my highest priority. (I will also try to hit up Dark Horse panels at both C2E2 and SDCC if I can.)

Expect me to inquire on when we'll see Oppo Rancisis, Sly Moore, San Hill, and the other Jedi Council members like Strass, Agen, and Coleman Kcaj. (Oh, and if I have time. Maybe if we'll see more of Master Vos.)

And in the Del Ray panels, expect me to hit them with a direct question related to publishing future material and what they know of the EU's fate in regards to episode 7 (that is, if someone doesn't beat me to the punch).

About Oppo -- they told us like... well over a year ago that he was going to show up and they had his character model done for an episode. But seeing is it took them over two years to finally show the episode with Hondo in the Slave 1 after that was announced in 2010, who knows? At any rate, keep your eyes peeled! Although chances are good you'll see him for .5 seconds as he dies in a trailer.

I know that Oppo's model was approved, but Filoni said they didn't use the model yet. I'd like an update on it to confirm that they 'will' use it. Though I suspect the reason we haven't seen him yet is because of the challenge of animating his mighty beard. I do hope we see him fight. A single comic battle (and death) is not enough.

And yes, I know that by him appearing, it could further muddle continuity. Oh well. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll forget to kill him.

Strass and Agen would be cool to see for at least a bit... and we know nothing about Kcaj. Moore really needs to at least make a cameo (we've seen her damn planet, but not her?), and I'd like to see at least an acknowledgment that San Hill and other council members 'exist'.

Oh well, who knows. I'll try to focus on these little things in a 1-2 line question. I only have so much space to get away with it (you know, so the little kid behind me can ask if we'll see Rex and Anakin in Season 6.)

 

While I'm certain that Ahsoka will be exonerated and survive this arc, I'm also wondering if at the end, Ahsoka will begin to have serious questions/doubts/concerns about the Republic and the Jedi's role in it. I'm not saying she'll defect to the Separatists, but rather she'll leave the Jedi and join those Jedi who declared that they won't support either side. Instead, they will remain neutral and stay out of the conflict.
