The following story is seriously disturbing. Three boys in a school for special needs children rape a girl in their class. The school administration drops the charges and the police dismisses the case because "victim and attackers have low IQs". Link.

To which I agree except for the pesky statutory rape (she said yes, but she was too young to say yes) - I'm off to read the story to get more details before I say anything else. Once again, please note I am not taking any stance here (other than, yes, rape is very wrong).

I actually agree, this is not whacky, it's infuriating.

There wasn't much to discuss about it, so I didn't think it warranted its own thread. There have been serious stories in this thread too, so I felt there was a precedent. The qualification is that it's weird or absurd, and that story is certainly unbelievably absurd. I felt the need to share it when I read it, because it angered me, and I did preface the post by writing that it was disturbing.
