Hopefully more multiplayer DLC is on the way, a Blue Suns enemy type would be really nice, but i doubt it would be made.

There is multiplayer DLC: I think there's at least been some rumours we're looking at six new types of co-op mission along with a couple of new Earth maps. Cutest part is that new "leaked" image from it...

..YYyyyeah, I'd say Krogan Vanguard is about to get overpowered again. :D

EDIT: In other news, took my Human Infiltrator out for another spin, this time with the N7 Piranha. Admittedly it was only on Bronze against Cerberus because I was farming credits and didn't want to waste resources, but that's the first time I stacked up 50 kills in a game and wound up coming second by less than 1000 points. It was stupid fun to decloak behind dudes by a shotgun blast to the face. Favourite part was taking down an Atlas solo with nothing but a shotgun. :D

I was under the impression that image was for Singleplayer DLC. But come to think of it i'm probably wrong.
Do you have it on PC Saintheart?

No, PS3. Sorry, I like my miniature joysticks and gun-like triggers too much. :D The reason I think that image is from MP is because it's actually been identified as located on Firebase Goddess.

I'd definitely like to see an overpowered Brute Chieftan er, Krogan Vanguard.

I'm thinking this co-op DLC thing might be an attempt to show war assets working in conjunction against the Reapers while still relating to the story, as that was one of the biggest nitpicks. Not anything radically changing the ending or Priority: Earth mind you, but a series of missions showing behind the scenes stuff.

I dunno, Tali can get nasty. I love when you take her along to Cronos Station as your LI and see the recording of TIM talking about surrounding Shep with "sympathetic faces:"

    "He needs to die."

Well, this should be interesting then. One of the beta drafts had a slightly different mission there. I bolded the part that's the most interesting:

    <id>581757
    <position>11131
    <data>Cutscene: Hammer Intro

    - Huge troop ships descend through the clouds. We see the London landscape in flames. Tracer fire - arcs up from the ground towards the ships. Some ships are destroyed in mid-air.
The shuttles and pods land at the secured landing zone.
    - Interior shuttle. The shuttle doors open and immediately soldiers are shot down. Other soldiers climb over their bodies to run towards positions in the battlefield…

    <id>583231
    <position>11137
    <data>Action Moment: Reaper Attack
Shepard moves to open the door to the shuttle. Suddenly, a mini-Reaper appears nearby, landing / emerging from the Thames. It fires its main gun, destroying the shuttle. Sheppard and team scramble for cover in a nearby building, shouting over the radio for pickup.

    <id>584546
    <position>11140
<data>Conversation: Shepard and team enter the HAmmer stronghold. Anderson is here. Conversation about launching the Hammer attack as soon as the rest of Hammer is in position.

    <id>581756
    <position>11130
<data>Conversation: Shepard reports the gun was destroyed to Anderson. Anderson tells Shepard about the progress of the other teams - not all of them succeeded, but enough have that hammer can land. Hammer is radioed and given the signal to begin the assault.

    <id>590675
    <position>11161
    <data>Conversation:

Shepard climbs aboard the APC, which begins driving towards the facility.
Anderson reports that Hammer has broken through the Reaper defenses, and all units are converging on the facility. Victory is almost certain!

Suddently, Hackett breaks in over radio. Reaper reinforcements are incoming.

    <id>584604
    <position>11142
    <data>Conversation:
Anderson fills in Shepard about what's been happening with hammer. It'll be a few minutes before Hammer's all in position. This may be the last chance to talk to Shepard's team.

    Start the attak now?

    <id>584605
    <position>11143
    <data>Cutscene: Hammer Resolution

Hammer begins its assault, fighting across the open ground towards buildings defended by the Reapers. Cutscene mostly follows another squad, outcome depends on how powerful Hammer is.

At the end of the scene, we return to Shepard, who is also making progress. Shepard ends up jumping / falling / getting blown into a large trench running toward the buildings ahead.

    <id>585156
    <position>11144
    <data>Conversation:
One of Shepard's surviving, unassigned henchmen has linked up with a mechanized infantry column. They're trying to advance down the street, but AT fire from the buildings has stopped them. They need Shepard to clear the buildings so they can get to the facility.

    <id>590686
    <position>11166
    <data>Conversation:

The APC comes to a stop at the edge of the massive crater which contains the facility.

Shepard decides whether or not his team will accompany him in the final run to the device.

Harvesters start landing in the crater. Anderson reinforces that they can't stay and fight - the Harvester swarm is virtually endless. They just need to get Shepard to the beam at all costs. Anderson and his team will cover one side of Shepard's approach, the henchmen the other side.

    <id>581758
    <position>11132
    <data>Conversation:

Anderson drops Shepard off on one side of the Facility, a few blocks from the muster point where Hammer is gathering before their attack. He wishes Shepard luck, and then his shuttle takes off so that Anderson can take command of Hammer on the far side of the facility.

    <id>590682
    <position>11162
    <data>CUTSCENE:
A second Reaper fleet arrives in orbit of Earth. Harvesters start launching from the Reapers, and descend towards earth in a massive swarm.

    <id>590683
    <position>11163
    <data>Conversation:

Shepard / Hackett / Anderson decide to move quickly to organize a defense to hold off the Reapers in orbit from reaching the Citadel and to keep the Harvesters away from the London facility.

    <id>590684
    <position>11164
    <data>GUI:

Hammer resolution: summary of performance of the Hammer striketeam and casualty report.

Shield planning: assign strike teams for orbital and planetary operations to defend against the Reaper counterattack.

    <id>590685
    <position>11165
    <data>CUTSCENE:

Shield setup. The device and its escorts enter Sol and move to engage the Reapers.

    <id>706256
    <position>11472
    <data>Designer Cutscene:
Shepard forces open the door and emerges onto the street. Further down the street, the crew of a torpedo launch truck is being attacked by reaper enemies. One of the crew is killed, and activates the launch as he falls. The torpedoes launch, and impact harmlessly or are destroyed by a Reaper which is advancing towards the trucks.

    <id>706898
    <position>11475
<data>Designer Cutscene: Missile Strike part 1
Shepard enters the last commands to launch his missiles as the Reaper finishes charging its shot. As he does so, he shouts for the other missile units to fire.
Note: Close-up shots of the Reaper are avoided during this scene.

    <id>706258
    <position>11473
<data>Designer Cutscene: Missile Strike part 2
The first torpedo fires, impacting on the Reaper, staggering it. It is followed immediately by salvo after salvo of other torpedoes launched by other Hammer units to the east and west.
Shepard's second torpedo fires, striking the Reaper in its vulnerable spot, destroying it.
Cheering can be heard over the radio. Anderson arrives with a unit of Marines.
Note: Close-up shots of the Reaper are okay during this scene.

    <id>706329
    <position>11474
    <data>Target

    <id>707171
    <position>11476
    <data>Designer Cutscene: Reaper Battle Failure
The Reaper fires its beam, destroying the missile truck and causing a massive explosion.

    <id>635939
    <position>11225
    <data>Designer Cutscene:
    Shepard comes to.
A handful of survivors from hammer, including Anderson and the henchmen, have gotten bogged down just a few dozen meters from the conduit and have dug in, but are dying quickly.
Suddenly, the Normandy streaks overhead, evading fire fromthe Reaper and blowing a hole in the Reaper enemies' lines.
Anderson shouts for Shepard to make a run for it, and orders the rest of Hammer to cover him.

    <id>590741
    <position>11168
    <data>Action Moment / Cutscene:

A harvester lands almost on top of Shepard, knocking him down. The Harvester attacks, and Shepard scrambles to avoid it.

Suddenly, gunfire starts hitting the Harvester, distracting it. The henchmen appear, firing at the harvester, trying to get its attention. It moves to attack them - they shout for Shepard to go for the beam, and disappear, chased by the Harvester.

Shepard runs to the beam, ducking around more fire from landing Harvesters, and leaps into the beam.

As for the Tali thing, I always thought she was a case of Beware the Nice One. :p I remember this bit from ME2 with the volus on the Citadel who accuses this one quarian of stealing from him: "My gut says I should jack his suit's olfectory senses so that everything smells like refuse."

The angry drumming of my fingers while reading that almost broke through the ikea particle board. That would have been great if they had continued with that trend. I see a lot of wasted opportunity in that small excerpt.

Also, I'm extremely pumped for the enormity of this single player DLC. I mean, it's going to be in two parts on Xbox due to the 2 GB per download package limit. Can't wait to toss back some drinks with Wrex and Garrus.

Also, when it mentions friends and love interests from the Mass Effect Trilogy, I wonder if they'd be so in-depth as to include Giana Parasini or Shiala. I wouldn't really care either way, but Shiala at least has a surprising cult following.

BLemelisk Heh, yeah. I think my jaw dropped slightly when I first read that. All those war assets might have actually meant something other than being able to pick your favorite color!

As for the DLC, as much as I love the idea of spending more time with current and former squadies, I can't justify spending $15 on a DLC where I can deck out an apartment on the Citadel only to probably have it left in rubble, just like my Sheps (at best), at the end of the game. If the DLC is good, and in the off-chance that it does expand on the "breath scene" and give more than "implications," I might reconsider getting it.

I'm willing to bet that the mission is going to involve foreshadowing of CataKid, </Sarcasm>because everyone loves him<sarcasm>. Hey Bioware, if you have to use dlc to properly foreshadow your story changing plot-twist (however ill-considered it is), you fail at basic storytelling. [face_frustrated]

*takes breath* Now that I got that out of my system...

It also appears that the next MP DLC will also be the last. From what I gathered, there's 7 new weapons, and several new characters, including a krogan with a warhammer (gravity hammer? :p ), new FEMALE turians, geth juggernaut (geth prime?), and an Alliance infiltration unit. Also, am I going crazy, or is that... EDI in the one promo pic for the MP DLC? No new maps though. Not even hazard variants.

In the end though, I'll probably just have to headcanon that the Reapers were trapped in dark space or something at the end of ME2 and couldn't invade. At least until MEHEM gets really good and I don't have to put up with certain things.

You know, since I've been dropping in to the BSN forums for updates on the new DLC, I think I've discovered another reason why I don't absolutely loathe the ME3 ending - reading through the posters on the Citadel DLC announcement thread waaah-ing about how it's not what they (read: the specific poster, who thinks his personal vision should be the developer's guide) wanted, I can't help but feel sympathetic to the BW folks. I almost want to take a page from Fixer in Republic Commando - "Six-Two, could you can the chatter until you have something useful to say?"

Along a similar vein, would someone take the time to explain the Indoctrination Theory to me in a Cliff Notes version? If it's Exactly What It Says On The Tin, I'm fairly sure I'd dislike it even more than Destroy, Control, or Synthesis - "Hey, instead of your heroic character battling through likely mortal wounds to make a difficult, unpalatable choice, he just got mind-****ed by a bunch of giant robo-krakens."

Aside from that, decided to start marshaling my characters through to a pre-Cronos staging point for the DLC release. First through was the engineer; decided to start using a stabilized N7 Hurricane as her primary assault weapon. I knew that thing was basically the Typhoon's baby sister, but holy crap - get fully-evolved squad Warp or AP ammo on that thing and it shreds stuff. BIG stuff. I was peeved that the final Harvester on the Thessia temple approach flew off before I could take down its final three bars of armor. Might decide to start carrying that as my soldier's tertiary weapon instead of the Disciple; even without ultralight materials it's considerably lighter and leaves him walking around with about 1200 rounds of dakka :D

The short version: Mental Trauma By Game Company, Addressed Via Wishful Thinking And Confirmational Bias.

The slightly-less-short version: Basically, IT is a stealth argument for Destroy being the only real ending. It premises that Shepard, thanks to his occupational hazard of having to be around Reapers and/or Reaper artifacts for long periods of time, has been slowly but surely succumbing to indoctrination by the Reapers. He hasn't succumbed yet because he's Teh Ultimate Hardass, the kind of dude even Cthulhuesque apex predator species of the galaxy call "an anomaly". It doesn't propose that the whole ending is a dream or anything like that -- not exactly -- but IIRC (I haven't looked at it in a while) it basically goes like this: right after Anderson expires, the Reapers, realising Shepard might actually proceed to wipe out the Reapers in conventional battle, then make a final attempt to indoctrinate him, and force that godawful Kid on him. In essence, Control or Synthesis alike amount to Shepard becoming indoctrinated; Destroy is put forward because the Reapers are a bit like the Architect in the Matrix: you have to give humanity a choice, otherwise it'll reject the program. Destroy represents Shepard pushing off indoctrination to defeat the Reapers. In essence, IT in its earliest form proposed that the whole ending was a con job by Bioware and that the real ending is due for release sometime...in the future.

There's a massive body of circumstancial evidence for it, apparently, not that I've reviewed it, right back to looking at stuff like the BWONNG sort of noise that happens around the Illusive Man in Mass Effect 2. It's ... quite a testament to crowdsourcing, let's say. Unfortunately the only direct evidence for or against it was against it, to wit, Bioware snarling "Shut up. IT's not right. The ending's the ending, yes, we do write endings this sucky, we have more respect for the fanbase than to do a brilliant subversion of our own game the ending's not changing, deal with it."

Ah, gotcha. So it's wishful thinking + attempt to headcanon away the Star Brat.

Moved my sentinel up through Horizon last night, although I'll have to redo that stuff - I'd forgotten to have my last meeting with Miranda, oops. Realized what an absolute monster Ash is with the Typhoon - I had Tali as my third squadmate, so the barriers on the two Banshees encountered went down with a single joint zap. After that Ash shredded the first one by herself in about five seconds flat, I didn't even get a shot in with my own Typhoon.

Yeah, that's pretty much the short and skinny on IT. I'll admit, it's not my favorite, but if given the choice of either having CataKid and its nonsense be real, or have that whole bit be a case of "It Was All a Dream," I'll take IT any day. That said, the biggest flaw that I see in IT is: what's supposed to happen after you "wake up" (at least in the version I'm familiar with)? You still have to deal with the Reapers.

Also, even though I like MEHEM, I would have still liked to have actual multiple endings (not a color palette swap). I like it as *an* ending though.

I've seen a lot of the evidence (or "evidence," depending on you POV). One could argue that it was a sign that there was something up, and that not all was as it seemed, but it could have just easily been that, yes, BW went off the deep end and wrote a really bad ending and decided it was "art". I suppose if BW can be trusted (which has become debatable at best, imo), then anyone who hopes this new dlc will have ending content is going to be disappointed.

    *shrug* BW's loss, I suppose.

Trailer for Reckoning is up. I must say, the image of the new Krogan class just smashing a Banshee flat with a freakin' club was worth a chuckle. And the new Geth Juggernaut with the Geth Spitfire looks like More Dakka indeed.
