From the Forum, in Los Angeles, California ..

Blue Screen of Doom vs. L.A. Courtsiders

For Magic Johnson, The Forum feels like home.

Tonight, he was a pretty rude host.

Magic had 12 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals as he took player of the game honors, and the L.A. Courtsiders clinched a spot in the semifinals.

L.A. used a 14-0 run to close out the first quarter to ride out to victory. Earl Monroe keyed the game-turning run, scoring 8 of his 11 points during that run. Blue Screen of Death got to within five midway through the second quarter thanks to John Stockton (who finished the game with 16 assists) and Patrick Ewing (Who had 23 points and 10 rebounds), but by the half, L.A. was back up by 15, after Robert Horry hit one from behind the half court line at the buzzer. BSOD got back within 7 midway through the third before Gail Goodrich went on his own personal 6-0 run, and after that L.A.'s lead would never again be lower than ten.

Final Score: L.A. Courtsiders 105, Blue Screen of Death 92

If we can get a consensus on which draft we'd like to work on next, I'd be happy to host.

But this might be a topic for another thread(one that is perhaps locked and archived hinthintwinkwink DarthIntegral NYCitygurl)

What kind of draft, anyway? Using only teams from certain seasons?

I think the discussion has turned to fictional character drafts, but WhatIf does have MLB and NFL the same way it does NBA(where you select a player/year for certain positions--I think defense runs like fantasy football would, where you draft the entire defense for a given year).

Sahara Heat Wave vs. Honey Nut Cheerios

As the first half came to a close, you could feel it coming.

Even with the Heat Wave holding a five-point lead after Charles Barkley's desperation heave at the buzzer came up empty, you could feel it.

Michael Jordan was going to take over this game.

Jordan scored six point in the last two minutes of the first half, Then, he scored five more in the opening two minutes of the second half, and dished out an assist there as well. Jordan, in fact, keyed a 14-0 run to start the second half for the Honey Nut Cheerios, who didn't allow a basket until 3:49 was cone in the third quarter. For the game, Jordan scored 33, handed out 11 assists and blocked 3 shots as he willed his team into the semifinals.

Moses Malone added 29 points and 17 rebounds, Barkley put in 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Isiah Thomas Scored ten and handed out 11 assists. Scottie Pippen was the only starter for Honey Nut Cheerios who didn't have a double-double, and he scored 22, and had 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. You wondered, at times, if Honey Nut Cheerios even needed a bench.

Dwight Howard had a monster game in a losing effort, scoring 29 and pulling down 15 rebounds.

Final Score: Honey Nut Cheerios 125, Sahara Heat Wave 119

I'm not much into non-sports Drafts, so I'd have to sit those out. That being said, what's wrong with having one of both going simultaneously? By the time we do NFL,MLB and NHL, it'll have been long enough for another round of NBA drafting.

excellent question, trim. and i would love to be involved in either a super hero and/or jedi draft or both. and yes i've never understood why there can't be multiple drafts in multiple places happening all at the same time. the boards are back (sort of), after all.

howard should never have the ball at the end of a quarter/half in that kind of situation. it's just bad basketball.

and it's even more bizarre given when it happened. just weird.

Bruce willis vs. Midland City Gutless Wonders

Midland City wanted to leave no doubt who the top dog was in the "Oop" Division.

Riding a near perfect game from Dwyane Wade - 12/16 shooting, 2/2 on threes, 27 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals - the Gutless Wonders blew out Bruce willis to take the top seed.

Wade was named player of the game, but got plenty of help. Three other starters for Midland City had double doubles - Larry Bird had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Chris Paul 20 points and 11 assists, and Wilt Chamberlain had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Overall, the Gutless Wonders shot an amazing 56.8% from the floor and hit on all four of their three-point attempts.

The game seemed to turn at the start of the second quarter. Midland City pushed their lead to 11 points in the first two minutes, and then got it as high as 19 with about two minutes to play in the quarter. The lead hit 20 in the third quarter, before Midland City took their foot off the gas and cruised to victory.

Tracy McGrady lead Bruce willis with 29 points.

Final Score: Midland City Gutless Wonders 129, Bruce willis 111

We Talkin' Bout Practice? vs. Game...Blouses

A 5-0 run to start the game that saw We Talkin' Bout Practice? miss their first three shots of the game was a good sign for Game...Blouses.

A 10-4 run to extend the lead to 14 near the end of the first quarter was a better sign.

A 14-point halftime lead was an even better sign.

All these signs pointed to this: Game...Blouses might just win their first game.

A 45-point explosion in the third quarter that put them up by 35 heading into the fourth quarter sealed the deal.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 6 of his 16 points in that fourth quarter on his way to being named player of the game, thanks in large part to his 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and three blocks, but it was Karl Malone (8 of his 18 points in the third quarter) and Derrick Rose (8 of his 22 points in the third quarter) who helped to drive the explosion.

Reggie Miller talked about his guarantee of victory after the game, as well as thanking Jesus and four other deities for leading his team to this glorious victory. The Cleveland crowd - used to lovable losers - gave a standing ovation to Game...Blouses as the final seconds ticked off the clock.

Kobe Bryant had 21 points to lead the way for We Talkin' Bout Practice?.

Final Score: Game...Blouses 130, We Talkin' Bout Practice? 100
