Actually going backward in time, rather than just seeing events, or being effectively "stasised" for many years, is rare in the EU though- I think it only happened once- and that was to Threepio and Artoo in the Droids comics. They ended up on Endor.

Which may be why the Ewoks revere Threepio as a god in the present day.

or maaaayyyyybee, luke's training of ben skywalker was entirely for the purposes of time travel, as well as interdimensional!!! so that ben skywalker could be transported back to stop the assassinations of Abe Lincoln and JFK so as to put off the invention of the military-industrial complex which would then obfuscate the creation of the Galactic Empire!!!1!

Since it has already been stated that the ST won't be hindered by existing cannon, there's no reason Disney/Lucasfilm can't tweak any and all of Lucas' story ideas to place the films in a time period after RotJ that works with the age of the Big 3. If you were to have Mark, Carrie and Harrison in the films NOT playing their roles from the OT then you would have a potentially civilization toppling level of outrage from the fans.

For those afraid that Abrams might pull something like Leonard Nimoy and his role in Star Trek as a time traveling Spock, Episode VII is a continuation, not a reboot.

You want to claim you have legitimate sources when you dont, thats fine. Just dont be upset when people call you out on it. Express whatever ideas or theories you want, thats what we're here for... but do yourself a favor and drop the Bantha pudu about sources. No one buys it and it detracts from the actual ideas you want to express.

Maybe they'll travel forward in time and space in order to have wacky adventures with Socrates and Lincoln.

Time travel in Star Wars would make me get up, leave the theatre and ask for my money back. Seriously.

If Timothy Zahn had written the prequels, Palpatine's clone would have been named Paplaatine, not Sidious ...

The Star Wars galaxy is an fantasy idealized place
    no weird **** in it.
there is sound and explosions in space
but there are no black holes, supernovas, nebulae, neutron stars, worm holes, space-time ripples, the stars don't even move at different speeds like they would in real space travel.. and there is definitely NO TIME TRAVEL.
all that belongs in other sci-fi franchises like Star Trek.

Time travel and cloaking have no room in SW. I know cloaking was mentioned - just glad we never saw it.

Exactly - there's plenty of "weird" stuff in Star Wars.

It's fine to not want time travel, but to believe that there's some kind of rule against it in SW is sillypants.

Until we officially know what the stories about, what time frame after ROTJ it's set in, who the characters are ''excluding the big 3'', it looks like we'll continuously be swamped with ridiculous rumors like this for months to come.

I actually created a list of rumors we will possibly see. So far only two have happened. What are your ideas for rumors we will possibly see? Gotta update that list ;)

I should have put it this way "no weird s-h-i-t in its space or time continuum taken from our scientific theories here on Earth"
you might consider the Force to be weird but it is explained to us.. it's a plot device we need to have the story that is there from the beginning, just like the mentioned sound and explosions in space. Star Wars is more fantasy than Sci-Fi

I did not remember Han mentioning supernovas in the movie, I'll give you that, but the truth is, we never see any of them...
