I'm eager to see the effects of the Disney deal on the future of the Expanded Universe.

 

I find it interesting that Kennedy left JP IV to work exclusively on SW. That's a good sign.

 

They could just combine both movies and make it about Evil Sith Dinosaurs.

Episode VII Updates

There were a few new updates related to the sequel films this week. First up, Mark Hamill revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he is talking to Lucasfilm about Star Wars: Episode VII:

"They're talking to us," he reveals. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am."

Hamill also explained what he was expecting from the new film:

"I said to George that I wanted to go back to the way it was, in the sense that ours was much more carefree and lighthearted and humorous – in my opinion, anyway. And another thing I'd want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back? Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that's around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody's on board here, rather than just one. I guess I'll have to tune into your show to figure out who's on board."

Wow, Vaughn's new nickname must be Sloppy Seconds. I guess he got used to that working under Guy Ritchie.

Not to mention that he will likely be on a short list, if Abrams doesn't direct the sequels. So it wouldn't hurt to keep up with him.

Still IMDB has been pretty spot on most of the time, my film classes always bank on IMDB when it comes to these convos hah

 

For past releases, it's an undeniably amazing resource. Not popularly anticipated upcoming releases.

 

Well, Harrison Ford is playing a teacher-like character in Ender's Game, which is of course also science fiction - it's a supporting role too. That could mean he's exhausted his quota for supporting sci-fi roles for the next little while, or he could be keen to return. I think it would be right for him to do at least a little cameo - Star Wars is one of the franchises that made him famous, after all.

 

Ford should come back in some form I agree.

I also agree that Ford should return in some form. I think the whole idea of a new SW film is so exciting, especially since Disney is in charge now. It would be awesome if Carie, Mark and Tony were in the movie.

 

Hopefully employ credible writers and put a ban on terrible character names.

 

I would bet the droids are gonna make it back in too

 

Yeah, they can't be in all the other movies and not the new trilogy!

 

What's a Star Wars film without comedy, right? The droids have to be in this movie too.
