    Sure why not give the guy a small cameo? It would be a great easter egg! R2-D2 had a role in Star Trek 2009 so I see no reason why Captain Kirk can't make an appearence in Episode VII. :p Count me officially on board for this idea, Echo!

    Thankfully, I don't think it will help happen. If Shatner couldn't get into STAR TREK I don't see him in SW.

    I like Shatner. He's a funny guy who's not above a little self-deprecating humor and all, but as far as a cameo appearance in the ST? While I woudn't be fussed about it either way, I just don't see the need for it.

    Oh God Yes. I would love this. Especially after his 'feud' with Carrie Fisher last year.
    And don't forget his golden moment.
    "Dear Mr Shatner, ...we want you to open the show..... Star Wars?! Hey wait a minute wait a minute, I can do Star Wars...."

    Have him play a wisecracking admiral in the New Republic (or whatever it's going to be called) armed forces. Would be amusing if his second-in-command had pointy ears or used the word "logical" a lot.

    I have always liked Shatner. However, I think he is joking. On a seriousness note, we need to keep the franchises separate. I would only favor a cameo for him if he was not recognizable. This has to be a serious film effort and needless cameos and other stunts will only cheapen the franchise.
