IIRC, the Gallofree transports were common in the Alliance because the company had gone bankrupt and their ships were cheap to pick up.

I do wonder why those CEC ships seem to risking a catastrophic collision by flying 180 degrees opposite the direction of the rest of the fleet.

Re: Kamikaze ships - If TIE Fighter is to be believed, every ship has a Lambda-class shuttle aboard for officers to escape damaged ships. Disabling them earns their pilots tertiary objective bonus points and, hopefully, a sweet arm tattoo.

In all seriousness, that tactic betrays the desperation of the Rebellion after Hoth. If they really thought they had a chance to win beyond Endor, wouldn't they try to preserve such valuable transports and fleet tenders?

Space has 3 Dimension, they properly are further back ;)

Ackbars first reaction is to call for a retreat to presumably for another engagement down the line so at least he didn’t intend for the whole thing to be an all or nothing engagement. Plus the fleet was ragtag, coming from various System Forces and groups who only threw in their lot with the Rebels for Endor, some who might really not have been able to provide more than a hastily refitted Gallofree transport filled to the brim with explosives.

The "kamikaze" Rebel transports are rather interesting, especially when you recall that the Rebel Fleet expected to find an inoperational Death Star and a token Imperial fleet. I almost wonder if the medium transports packed with explosive were originally intended to knock open any portions of the DSII surface, in case there wasn't good access to enter the station. That, or the Rebels decided since they committed the bulk of their naval forces to the battle that they would bring their supply train along as well.

OOU, the reason for the Rebels having so many transports at Endor is because the FX guys wanted to use existing models for fleet shots. IU, we really haven't been provided with a good explanation.

Fire ships might be good for taking out any unexpected elements in-system. Solo wasn't surprised to see an Executor there, so it alone wouldn't be enough to deter the Rebel fleet. Maybe they were originally meant to hit it? The Rebels already did so successfully with the Vengeance in the previous year.

I rather like that idea. The whole midset of the Alliance was to preserve the fleet and build it's overall strength, so I can see Rebel commanders agreeing that a handful of fire ships targeted at the right place might open the shields of the Executor long enough for Ackbar's crusiers to knock out key systems and cripple the ship with fewer losses than an outright slugging match. Plus I love the tie-in to the campaign in the Airam Sector and the destruction of the SSD Vengeance.

So, in the latest issue of Star Wars, it appears that Leia & Wedge's secret squadron is based on a CR90 corvette with a hangar installed on the side of the aft section, right before the engines. It can house at least 6-8 X-wings, so I imagine that the dimensions of the vessels have been modified a bit. Considering how versatile and customizable Corellian designs are supposed to be, I rather like seeing this.

The pocket carrier Night Caller was an idea I loved. Shame we never saw Face liberate it from a museum in Mercy Kill.

So, in the latest episode of TCW, there was some kind of speeder/transport/shuttle that had panels on it that were very reminiscent of the TIE series.

I didn't get a good look, waiting for the guide to go up to take a closer look.

I'd say TIE, the cockpit as well as the wings.

Also - check it out: the Star Wars Galaxy's version of the Skipray Blastboat is right next to it!

    Thanks, Gorefiend.

Those panels look something out of the old TIE games, like an Avenger or Defender, or the crazier looking TIE series from Galaxies.

Better look at it from the Episode Guide and yep the panals look like those on the TIE Drone from Dark Empire or the Defender. The Triva page even mentions how it is meant to have TIE elments and also mentions that it is "a vehicle design inherited by “The Clone Wars team from another project." Which is another hint that 1313 might really have been canceled.

Is this our first time seeing a Seinar transport/shuttle/freighter craft?

Also, with as much visual tie in as 1313 has been getting from the show, I wonder if we were supposed to be seeing more of the game by now. Are their any good write-ups to update us on its status?

In TCW or in general?

Last news was from 30.09.12 that the Buyout by Disney would not effect the game, nothing new since then.

I meant in general. I know we've seen Seinar fighters (of course) and cap ships, but I think this might be the first visual for something in between that isn't a one-off like the Scimitar or the Rouge Shadow or a complete TIE-ripoff.

Lambda and Sentinel shuttles seen in the OT are also made by Sienar :) as are several freighter, patrol ship (like the Guardian) and shuttle designs from WEG and of course the Skipray.

We got...um...some big pointy thingies....and some round ones....something that looks like the big pointy thingies, but bigger and pointier.

Yeah, that is a Gozanti cruiser. One of the best, IMO, starship designs from the Prequels. It is a shame it is such a small ship. It would make a great escort warship in the DP or CR series of gunships and corvettes.

Can you confirm that the bigger and pointier thingies are no more than 8 kilometers in length?
