Why do people consider this such a good film? It doesn't make much sense to me but that is just IMO. What do you guys think?

What exactly doesn't make sense? That different people have different opinions/preferences/taste?

It was the best episode in the Prequels, but again, the acting and feel of the movie could have been more emotional.

    ---

    i'll give you that

the story, the pacing, the illogical plot points make it a star wars film I don't watch often tbh

    Jar Jar WAS in ROTS.

Watch the scene where Anakin returns to the Senate, and also at Padme's funeral.

I will say this: it had more emotion than the first two. Just not enough, though.

    Agree with things said above

    Also some great quotes

    "I am the Senate"

"So this is how liberty dies...with a thunderous applause"

    And the epic duels ^:)^

The final third of the film. The first two thirds are suffering from the same problems as Return of the Jedi, with way too much damn stuff going on and not really jiving. But once all the extraneous plot threads are tied up, and the five hundred supporting characters are all killed off, things really pick up. From Order 66 onwards to the end credits could be their own movie.

Hayden was loads better in this movie.
    Ian McDiarmid, nuff said.
    The music
We find out how everything came to be that was in Episode 4
    Lightsaber battles
    Space battles
The feeling that this was the end. This hyped it up for me so much
    The death of the Republic
    Order 66
Have you heard of the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
Wish we could have seen the Rebellion scenes

Not to pick on your post, but I've often wondered, was Hayden really better in ROTS? Or was Anakin just written in a manner that more people could appreciate and enjoy?

It's a question I often ponder because I get the feeling that sometimes Hayden's performance in AOTC is lambasted not because he performed poorly, but because people didn't like Anakin's character and didn't want to accept it. Thus, they turned to blaming Hayden rather than admitting that his portrayal accurately represented young Darth Vader. Not everyone of course, but it is something I consider.

i'll give a few reasons why I think ROTS was "ok" so not to be accused of being a basher

    1. Anakin was more relatable, at times you felt a bit sorry for him

    2. the lightsaber fights were watchable and some..well one..a bit more realistic

    3. Sidious' scenes

    4. Dooku didn't have an offscreen death (i'd take the lame death he had over that)

    5. Obi-Wan was true to form, surviving purely on luck (something he doesn't even believe in)

ROTS was amazing imo, it's generally rated as high as ROTJ.

His voice. In AOTC his voice got on my nerves. In ROTS I was fine with his voice. Made it enjoyable. For example "This is where the fun begins" at the start of the movie is so much better to listen to than anything he said in AOTC

Fair enough, I can see why you'd enjoy the ROTS incarnation more for that reason. I just wonder if it's an issue of Hayden's acting, though? What I mean is, Hayden plays Anakin much younger and more petulant in AOTC compared to ROTS. That and he himself is also younger which would likely factor.

    A small sample for you:

    Because...

... it can be brilliant with saying a word:

... it takes its time to be quiet:

    ... and loud:

... it shows how Palpatine finally owned the Senate:

... it portrays the most adult romantic relationship of Star Wars:

... it deals with terrifying transformations of individuals:

... and society as a whole:

.... it contains numerous meaningful little moments:

    ... it bridges the trilogies:

It's a very cool film, people like it for a lot of reasons, even if you don't agree it is hard for me to get how you couldn't even understand why others would like it. But it seems like most of your posts are light trolling of some type.

It's a severely flawed movie, but it also has some of the saga's finest sequences. I still get chills watching [parts of] the Order 66 montage, with John Williams' epic score, that beautiful shot of Yoda dropping his stick and clutching his heart, the way the camera pans back during Aayla Secura's death scene...it's just perfect.

I still think the whole "prophecy" bit was a poor idea to begin with, but the way Obi-Wan screams "You were the chosen one!" is utterly heartbreaking.

Ian McDiarmid is absolutely brilliant (at least until he turns into the cackling caricature we remember from Jedi).

I admit that I still have no idea what exactly is going on during the scene where Bail Organa gets turned away ("Sorry, sir. You have to go." "And so it is"), but there's something about that scene that's powerful all the same.

In AOTC he was supposed to be a petulant and younger Jedi and pulled it off admirably. I hate that he was like that though. Anakin in ROTS is my version of Anakin.

I really don't see how one person can fathom why someone else had a different opinion about a particular film. I feel one should simply accept that not everyone shares the same views on anything and leave it at that.
