Lord of the Rings will always be one of my favorite scores.

Every time I hear the Fellowship music I get chills. :)

I just had to reimport the entire TTT Complete Recordings into my iTunes. The other day I discovered that I had a few albums that had accidentally been imported at 128kbps. This is for my tastes too low. I do them at 192 now. So doing this has rekindled my interest in listening to the three LOTR scores!

Over the holidays, I watched the entire trilogy in EE format, so I've been playing a bit more of the soundtracks. There are a few tracks from the OSTs that I still prefer to the CRs - "The Breaking Of The Fellowship" being one of them - probably due to familiarity of many listens.

Checking back in iTunes, I see that there are quite a few tracks that I haven't played in over a year. My most-played LOTR track overall is "The Shadow Of The Past" (Not the one from the OST, however. It's really track 7 from the CRs, "Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe", but I renamed many of the CR tracks when I imported them to iTunes.)

My most-played track from TTT is "Aragorn's Return", and from ROTK it's "Into The West" (Does that count? If not then it's "The Battle Of The Pelennor Fields".)

Yeah I renamed a bunch of the CR tracks to be stuff from Tolkien... either chapter titles or sometimes phrases from the books. I like them better that way.

I just sifted through this thread and i gotta say 3 things

1# reading this thread from the beggining is almost like reading a book where you keep wanting a charecter to find out what you have already guessed!

2# I agree with the thread title

3# is more of a question is there any concert suites for LOTR? if there isnt than i will have to stick with my own fanmade ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJCUa6Il88 (the reason the pitch is shifted is so youtube wouldnt block the audio)

Who on this forum is also a huge LotR fan? The music isn't comparable to the SW sequel soundtrack, but I thought seeing as there's such a music thirsty fan base here, I'd start a thread for people who want to show off their knowledge of Howard Shore's score (LotR score).

There will of course be people who are offended that I post this in a Star Wars dedicated forum, so I may find my thread deleted within half an hour, but I urge anyone who feels this way to wait and see how many people respond.

So for starters, which tracks do people like?

Awesome track! "At dawn, look to the east..."...."Let this be the hour when we draw swords together!"...."Now for wrath, now for ruin, and a red dawn!"
There are of course several variations of that melody.

Now, this is one of my favourite tracks (it really starts 1:37):

Yeah I think Howard Shore is a great composer in general. His soundtrack for Hugo was excellent.

Hugo? I learn something new everyday.
I'm afraid I can't agree about Hans Zimmer.

THIS SONG IS SO EPIC IT MAKES ME WANT TO THROW A CHAIR:

Duuuuude: go listen to Gladiator, Inception, Sherlock Holmes, Lion King, Armageddon, Da Vinci Code, Batman, and POTC and then come back and tell me the man isn't brilliant. His stuff's all over the board! Heck, he used a broken pub piano to do Sherlock Holmes's theme!

It's really a beautiful theme at the proper, original speed. But this remix takes it to a whole new level! narm.

The recent Hobbit score has rekindled my listening to all of the LOTR scores as well. I now have a Middle Earth playlist in iTunes! :D

*"three films". The fourth was pretty hit and miss. I mean the 'misty mountain' song is so tedious. Now, if you disagree, fine, but I've had enough of people being rude to me. Go ahead, disagree, as strongly as you wish without being rude.
