So, a discussion topic, brought to you by my plot bunnies...

When Wedge's parents died, he blew up the pirates responsible, bought a freighter and became a smuggler. This led him to the Rebellion. But what if it didn't? What else do you think he might have done, and how different would his story be - and the story of the Rebellion?

I think Wedge was Rebellion bound no matter what. I think his parents could have just been over taxed or cheated by the Empire in some way and he would have left to make a better life for them. I think he would have fought just as hard.

 

Well, I had this thought of him perhaps going into CorSec himself. You know, if he had that urge to make sure that what happened to him didn't happen to others. Or if he was caught from the blowing up of the pirates, maybe that could be his in. (I could see Hal Horn giving Wedge a chance, couldn't you?)

 

Or partnering up with Booster - as the crime-duo of the century!

 

Or, what if he did take that job for Karrde? I can see Wedge working up his way the organisation - remember, General Cracken wanted to recruit him for Intelligence. He'd have been up near the top in no time... but he'd still be drawn to the Rebellion, so that would be conflict. Delicious delicious conflict.

 

I think Wedge would've found himself working for CorSec as well.

 

And he could have met Iella straight up, before she married Diric. I would like that...

Okay, Wedge as CorSec officer. Get along with Corran, or bump heads?

 

Probably join forces to get Loor dismissed. I somehow think Wedge would have taken an instant dislike to him, and an instant liking to Hal and Gil Bastra!

 

Sounds about right. Loor would drive anyone to homicide!

 

I'm actually writing a fic exploring this very thing. But the second chapter will be a continuation of the first one " exploring the characters' changed circumstances. (Vader dead, Han less involved, and Luke's best friend/older brother figure still alive)" and not another AU because the bunnies demanded it.

My other chapter ideas are as follows:

Chapter 2
Wedge enters the Imperial Academy after officers bring Loka Hask to justice. Baron Fel joins the rebels.

Chapter 3
Wedge stays a smuggler working for booster, starts running guns or somesuch
Chapter 4
Departed. Wedge goes to Coronet City, joins Corsec and gets asked to infiltrate Zekka Thyne's organization. Iella's the only contact with Corsec as a shrink, and Hal and Corran Horn both play a role.

Chapter 4, Wedge joins CorSec, as a customs pilot, captures Han Solo?
Chapter 5: How I met your mother
The Republic never fell, and Wedge is an architect-in training on Alderaan, Rooms with Tycho (Marshall), and Winter (Lily) is friends with Janson (Barney)

 

Lol. Chap 5 sounds HILARIOUS.

That's Alternate Antilles, right?

 

Mhm. Just gotta wait for Janson to do something Legend... Wait for it....

Also, is there a possibility any of you would be interested in beta-ing the second chapter of AA? It's still in the "partially assembled" phase.

I like the chapter 5 idea.

I guess I'm alone in this thread, but I just can't see Wedge in law enforcement

 

It'd be a change, alright. See, it would depend on how he was struck by events... if things happened a touch differently. He'd maybe always feel a tad like a fish out of water (or a bird out of the sky XD ) but I could see him making it work. And if he had to run from CorSec because of Imps, he'd be a lot quicker at joining up with the Rebels than Corran and Iella were.

What do you think of Wedge working for Karrde then?

 

Wedge is such a stand up guy. I have trouble seeing him oustside of the Rebellion. But he did go back and take Corellia's side at the beginning of LOTF...after he was kidnapped. Seriously the EU gets so messed up it's hard to figure out.

 

Round and round and round it goes, where it leads... nobody knows!

 

Needs more Wedge.
