That scene is one of the best in the saga, which is exactly why I don't want to see it getting screwed up by bringing dead characters back to life. It cheapens it.

So are you saying that Episode 1-6 are not building towards Episode 7?

No, not particularly. You want to compare this situation to the Avengers, but you can't. The Avengers movie was the end goal. That isn't true of Episode 7. Until a few months ago, nobody even knew it was being made. Episode III was it for Lucas. His plan after that was to focus on the TV projects.

This was a new plan. It's him cashing out.

Just because the general public didn't know until a few months ago, it doesn't mean there was never a plan.

Lucas himself said that he planned on focusing on the shows. That was his plan, the movies only got under way when he wanted to sell the property.

Not trying to be nitpicky, but it seems harsh to say it was just him cashing out. That's not the vibe I got from it at all.

He was very clear, as I am currently discussing on another thread, that he is going into retirement from large films, and wants to focus on small projects and philanthropy. He cashed out when it comes to Star Wars, he's done.

He passed it on to a new generation of filmmakers and donated an incredible large chunk of his "cash out" to charity. I do agree though that he is done with Star Wars.

Then what was your point? Charity? I already said that's what he's doing.

If you said that then sorry for not seeing it. Generally when someone says someone cashes out they are giving the impression the individual quit and gave in to simple greed. Seems the confusion is cleared up now though.

I didn't mean it in a negative way. I meant it in the "cashing out from the table" at a casino kind of way. As in, he's walking away from the game.

Then that makes sense. I do think he has been pretty extensively involved in the general storyline for the ST though. Disney obviously can change things up however they want, but everyone has seemed to give the opinion that they are following pretty closely to his treatments.

CONVERSATION CHANGER: Lets say Plagueis is in Episode 7 *or 8 or 9 if he's playing a Emperor type role while his apprentice does the dirty work* Who do you believe should play him and what qualities does that actor need to show in order to give the character justice?

Correct, but they have so far suggested they are going the way of the treatments. No evidence has seemed to say otherwise. Saying differently would be a pretty big jumping the gun.

I kind of liked the idea of Noble playing a Dark side guy. I wouldn't be opposed to changing Plagueis to a human character, if they chose that route.

I still hate that route, though:D

A treatment is a long way from a screenplay.

=D==D=^:)^^:)^ Thank you, thank you, Darth Claire! I would love John Noble if they go with him. I loved him in LOTR and Fringe is one of my favorite shows. I can also see Ralph Fiennes playing the role. I just want him in Star Wars in any role because he's just fantastic in every thing he does. Whoever plays him I think they should go with motion capture instead of retconning him into a human.

Noble is very good at projecting a quiet kind of menace

Definitely. I've only seen him in a few roles but as far as I can tell he's one fantastic actor. The ST would be all the better having him aboard.

I'm at this sad point of my Star Wars life that I just dont care anymore about WHO the villain is now....and all I really want is somebody I can speculate/wonder over *or at least pretend I dont know everything about*, gives a good performance, and I can form a cult-like fanbase around *kinda like Loki's army. Except you kinda need to be sexy to get a fangirl army but hey if they give him a nice looking apprentice that'll work too*. If Plagueis can do that and more then I guess I will be a bit happy. Disappointed yes but if the actor does a good job and is well written *thats the keyword. He needs to be written well. Just saying you're from the prequel trilogy or whatever doesn't instantly mean you are going to be a great villain* Also I am Team Denethor *aka John Noble*, or Voldemort *I dont call him Ralph Fiennes*

He is excellent on Fringe. I still have to catch up on the final season of that

As opposed to the idea as I am, they could still actually write a good character out of it. I must concede that they aren't doomed if they start with Plagueis.

I have to learn to edit instead of double post, I'm bad at that. It annoys me that you can't delete a post once you put it up

Yeah I'm on "Team: Just give me a well written/intimidating villain. I dont care if he's new or from the EU, as long as he's epic I'll be happy" now

That they make fun, quality movies, is by far the most important consideration.
