I presume you read the source material before you watch any movie or TV show.

Truth be told, years ago I migh'tve taken a crack at them. I used to devour books when I was much younger. But now, to be honest, lengthy, kilometric books intimidate the hell out of me. I find myself with little time and patience for them. Yes, it's lame and makes no sense but there it is.

And yes, I know that by Westeros standards, Joffrey should have a completely different surname as per where he was born and such, but yeah, my lack of ASOIAF defeated me here. Point to you, ser.

 

he's joffrey baratheon even in the show. but i don't think that was ender's point.

 

I tend to do just that. In fact in regards to Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, even though I purchased the season 1 dvd I didn't watch it until after I had read the first 3 books. I would much rather know what the author intended his story to be than to find how Hollywood has revised it.

In regards to punching people in the face. The only time I feel that urge is when I hear people spread political misinformation, especially when I suspect that they know that it isn't true.

 

I'd prefer people read the books too-- well, people I know; I don't care about strangers. They're more able to convey the story and world's complexity (AND THE FOOD) than 10-episode TV seasons. But I'm not quite as passionate about it as Ender.

 

I join book clubs and then just rent the movie.

 

As I've now posted twice in the thread, I should note that I would punch Robert Kirkman in the face.

Anyway:

I don't particularly mind if people don't read the original source material, but good lord does it get old when people complain about spoilers when the source material has been out for so long. It'd be like if right after Peter Jackson's King Kong came out, people bitched every time somebody said the ape died at the end.

 

In the opposite vein, certain spoilers remain powerful even when watching a film or tv show for the first time: when I originally saw Planet of The Apes (the original, duh), despite having known about the Statue of Liberty ending, I still got chills when that scene came up.

I think the end of King Kong is more well-known than ASOIAF plot points. I would say Ned Stark getting killed early in the story is nowhere near "It was his sled" level. I only ever see anonymous people on the internet really whine about "spoilers" they stumble upon because fans want to discuss the books, but there are also a lot of trolls who actively try to "ruin" stuff for TV viewers, so.

 

You say this like it's some outrageous thing that no one would ever do. This is pretty standard practice for me.

Well, I did that on purpose because he's no true Baratheon. You know what, I've really derailed this thread, haven't I? Let's move on and just go back to listing people to punch in da face.

And Ramza has it; complaining about 10 year old book spoilers because you're too lazy to read and have only just discovered this world is tedious to put up with.

because when I first posted the pics the pic of Rosie wasn't working. So I posted another picture of her and when I hit refresh both worked..

That's my biggest issue with the Walking Dead thread. The trades have been around for a while now. If I want to compare the two and lord forbid post something that could be a tv spoiler I'm the bad guy.
