Dang, it's too bad this trilogy is getting cancelled. I wanted to see Jaina/Jag working as a husband and wife team. Probably never happen now that Abrams is getting a hold of the series.

Yes, because we must blame everything on JJ Abrams right?

To quote the Nostalgia Critic, he may be a monster, but he's not that big.

The way you worded your post and mention that with Abrams getting hold of it, it does insinuate that Abrams is at fault for "cancelling" the series.

I haven't FotJ so I don't know how well Golden writes but I really want this trilogy to be released (and for it to be good, duh) because Jaina desperately needs some growth and proper use as a main character.

What is a little strange is that I just went to Golden's website and there is no mention of this trilogy anywhere. From what I can tell she last updated last month. When was the last time anyone from Del Rey mentioned this trilogy? What about Kemp's books? We first learned of these books in September 2010 and it's now March 2013 and we still know nothing about this mysterious duology. Until we hear something I'm assuming both sets of books are cancelled.

Some of us lamented the day we saw the author assigned to write it. :p

I never cared much for Christie Golden so I won't shed a single tear if her trilogy is cancelled. Heck I wouldn't mind if the went ahead and cancelled Crucible.

I think Del Rey is waiting for the word on how the ST canon is being handled. We'll get an answer once the EU authors realize that Disney doesn't give a crap either way.

I can only see this series being good only with the help of a small army of editors anyway.

I'm pretty sure Del Rey already has some idea of how thing will be affected. In a few months we will have some stuff to discuss ;)

i think SOTJ can be very good. She might be better at solo writing anyway

I hope this doesn't get cancelled as I was looking forward to it not only because of the younger generations being more in the focus but also because I wanted to see how well Golden does as a Star Wars writer when she's not part of a trio. I didn't overly enjoy her entries into FotJ but I've tried not to judge her too much on it since it was her first foray into Star Wars novels and it can't have been easy joining the EU right in the middle of what was (in some ways) an 18 book series where she wasn't controlling the overall story and had to write her story to match what Allston had already written and what Denning was about to write.

me too. I would assume that they would cancel this very soon, if jaina is not in the ST

So if they cancel it, we can assume she won't be in the ST?

    No, I wouldn't assume that.

In fact, if SotJ is cancelled, I'd think it even more likely she's in the ST.

If she's not in the ST, SotJ can explain why.

But if she is in it, then it might be better to cancel SotJ, so if she has a change in character then we can attribute it to something happening between FOTJ and the ST, and write the book for that later.
