It's an AIM groupchat, so any manner in which one accesses AIM groupchats will suffice.

As for why it's on AIM?

After installing the latest version of AIM, getting fed up with it and installing an older version... I'm finally in. [face_party]

Can I join in the chat?
I feel I should get to know some of you lot better, even though I'm only in one game right now.

The RPF's official chat - jcrpfchat on AIM.
Well, there's the direct invitation method, where somebody invites you to the chat room, and there's the workaround which... I don't remember. Most consolidated chat programs let you just go straight into a chat room.

The workaround is that if you have AIM, you add yourself as a buddy then invite yourself to the chat as though you were inviting a buddy.

    I think.

My action figure of Masked Rider was far and away my favorite toy as a kid. I still have it somewhere.

Thirty minutes of "This is how you don't play MGS2". Very entertaining.

How about thirteen minutes of "The Legend of Cage: Beneath The Mask"?

    Yeah, that was hilarious.

I've been watching Kamen Rider and it's spectacular. By which I mean it's terrible, but it's the good kind of terrible.

I never even knew it was a show. Just loved the action figure (which I can't locate online anywhere). It had the head you could flip into a different head. One of them was the good guy, and when I flipped it he became a bad guy. And his alter ego was Metalhead.

Which reminds me, Ramza: I've been reading the first chapters of The Case for God. Makes for very interesting reading to say the least, on logos, mythos, and (among lots of other areas) the thought exercises of Buddhism, and what underlies them. Fascinating stuff.

Main thesis 7 of Wittgenstein's Tractatus - "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent" - gains a wonderful synchronicity, probably unintended for these discussions, with the transcendent -- Brahman, Nirvana, God -- which lies at the heart of mythos, accessed in Wittgenstein's silence, in a state of what the Greeks called ekstasis. Anyway.

Not so! Wittgenstein's expressed position on 7 was that it cannot be talked about precisely because it's important and untenable. That which could be talked about he considered solved or solvable and thus trivial. That's why he didn't get along with the Vienna Circle even though they agreed with most of the Tractatus: their position was that the things that could not be talked about were bosh.*

Probably also why he once said "There is nothing more useless than a professional philosopher."

My own position on the subject is that I only care about mathematical logic and, to quote my favorite philosopher: "there are numerous unsolved problems in [logic], and much work needs to be done."

Exactly the same thing can be said if you substitute the word [religion] for [logic].

On the subject of books, as it were, I just polished off Men of Tomorrow. And while I had a rough idea of how it was going to have to end - being as it is a nonfiction account of a medium and a period of time I like to read up on - still:

No, it's the rice wine tie-in to Veidt Co.'s latest perfume line. They say it pairs well with calamari.
