The only reason she's green now is because of oxidation.

I knew it was because of oxidation, but I wondered if it had already oxidated by the time it was delivered, or if it was bright for many years before going green. In any event, it's a nice green-blue hue, so it looks good regardless. What must have been awful looking is the time between partial and complete oxidation, where it would have had patches of this and that.

It's weird that the people who built the statue didn't that, when exposed to the elements, copper turns green. That seems like something humans should have known for thousands of years....

 

If it originally had a color like the mockup Saintheart posted on the previous page, then it would have been quite a sight, and both looks are good, in their own way. But if it was darker, more like bronze, like this:



then I agree that it looks better now.

Now that you mentioned it, I noticed that painting (singular). That one's pretty dark, almost black. I like it better the way it looks now.

The Statue of Liberty had to be closed after Hurricane/Superstorm (whichever type you want to call it) Sandy rolled through, but it was just announced that it will reopen on July 4th.

Yeah, it was, I thought, an good ep with a decent send - off, and I liked Karen's final scene - the graveyard scene, not her voice over at the end (one of her better moments acting wise), but yeah, not the best companion endings, by any means.

Michelle Bachmann at CPAC went on a spending fit about how Obama has 5 chefs on Air Force 1, about how he has a dog walker, and about how he spends 1.4 billion on excessive staff. None of this is true. The 1.4 billion is something every Prez gets and has mostly to do with security. A CNN reporter chased her down about her lies and dodged it all and brought up the (so far) debunked Benghazi items and accused the reporter of bringing up the other stuff to which the reporter pointed out that Michelle herself is the one who brought it all up.
