I just got the Facebook invite to participate in my 20 yr HS reunion. I guess I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that it really has been that long.

I guess it's true. Time really flies...or something.

My best friend said pretty much nobody showed up for his. Everybody just checks out each others' FB pages now... no need for reunions.

Up top, fellow old guy. Apparently they did a 10 yr reunion, but social networking wasn't as easy back then as it is now. I certainly didn't know about it but even if I did, I probably wouldn't have gone.

Still don't know if this is going to actually happen, though. Then again, it's in Miami and people from Miami are always looking for an excuse to go to the beach and drink.

My grandmother went to her school's 70th year reunion a few years ago (at least I think it was 70th, somewhere around there). She was the only one from her class to show up, and possibly the only living member as well. :p

Also class of 93 here. We didn't have a 10 year reunion and no word for a 20 year.

You should go and make up a completely crazy story about where your life has gone and see how many people you can get to believe it.

My 20 year "reunion" was last year. Didn't go. Word was that FB is indeed killing the high school reunion industry, to the point where there wasn't an "official" reunion for my class. So while there wasn't an official reunion, ironically some of my classmates used FB to organize an unofficial reunion instead, that had maybe 20 people attend. Nobody was attending that interested me, so I passed.

There are official vs unofficial high school reunions? I had no idea. I guess this would be an unofficial one since it seems like it's just a bunch of people inviting each other to party like it's 1993.

I might have a hard time getting them to believe the truth. :p

Went to my ex's 20th with him. Lamest... party... ever... You probably already keep in touch with anyone you are interested in hearing from anyway.

Really? I mean, it hasn't even been 10 years for me but is it more about just seeing what everyone is up to rather than seeing each other?

More people turn out for the 10 years than the 20, for sure. But yeah... most people talk regularly via FB... reunions are kinda dying off.

The only reason I would go to a high school reunion is to show how awesome I am now and how hot the escort is.

Class of '95. We had a reunion in 2001 when the school celebrated its 75th year. I'm not sure if there have been any reunions after that, as I'm untraceable.

Our classes were only about 120 people big and a lot of people are still friendly (a few grades up/down even) on Facebook, so the 20y reunions are still likely to be populated for us.

My sister's is this year, mine is next year. I know her FB group is asking "Should we bring our spouses?" so it looks to be a good turn-out.

The advantage for homeschoolers is that everyday is a reunion.

Class of '92 here. My high school class had a 20th anniversary reunion last year, and I still can't believe it's been that long. I didn't go to the reunion, though. The turnout was pretty low, and I've seen the photos and read the summaries of it... doesn't look like I missed much.

My 20th was in 2009. It was fun, and we voted almost unanimously to do a 25th next year. Other than my best friend from that time, I don't talk to any of these people on a regular basis but it was still fun to get together for one night and eat, drink and dance to 80s music.

Hmm...good point. You think they'd buy it?

Seriously, though my entire community was pretty anti-military when I was a there. By and large, the stereotype was that only the "dumb" kids joined the military. The fact that I not only joined the military, but became a submarine officer and made a career out of it will likely shock a lot of people (already has). Then there's all my "sea stories". Heck, I don't even believe some of them and I was there!
