good lord, now that's a trailer.

So, girl in underwear shot is Abrams' particular Trek trademark, or is this something that could carry over into Star Wars?

But it still seems... not as much. Granted, trailer -- not movie -- so reserving judgment.

And I still don't get a "Star Trek-y" vibe here yet. Just more of a "what if?" thing playing with Star Trek-named characters doing things entirely out of character (except for Spock) from the originals (by design, not by accident). And, don't get me wrong -- I enjoyed the first film, I would just like to see what they do with this rather than make a Star Trek-named action film.

And, man, the trailer really seems to be playing up the "Khan or not" aspects ("best operatives", "better at what?" "everything!", etc...)

I'm not even a big Star Trek fan I'm wishing I was seeing more space and Star Trekyness. Then it's obvious they'll be playing up the action, but I do what Star Trek to remain Star Trek. JJ already has the Star Wars job, he didn't have to make another demo movie.

Another trailer that makes it look like this wants to be anything except Star Trek.

That's a good thing. I want my Star Trek to be as unlike Trek as possible.

All I can say is, I'm glad other people are posting pics of Alice Eve in her Starfleet-issued undies, so I'm not subjected to "DANTHEOVERLORD!!!!1!111!!!-like replies.

When that Alice Eve gif was posted I really did do a double take when I saw it was ACoD and not you at the helm.

She's cute, but I can't stop looking at the 'Low Clearance' sign in the background.

It's Abrams, and really it's hollywood in general. Star Trek could easily be GI Joe 2270. As much as I like James Bond and yes the reboot, I can't deny it has seemingly lost some of its toung and cheek charm.

In all sincerity - I posted that gif as a :p response to the general backlash about the overall tone of the new films. I tend to not have much interest in the posting of "lock yourself in the bathroom" pics.

Trailer shows too much. I do agree this ST looks very un-ST, but I'm not as ruffled about it as others. But if it is going to be a bit different for a Star Trek, why show so, so much?

The last Trek was critically well-received, but barely performed at the box office. This time, they're going to lay the marketing on extra thick to try to pump the global audience, which like me has absolutely no loyalty whatsoever to the Trek franchise of the past.
