Regardless of the smack you guys are talking I enjoy these movies. Tokyo Drift is probably my favorite since it was the most about the cars. I do like the direction they are going making the movies more action oriented. You can only do so much car stuff. Plus these movies are super popular at work and the auditoriums are packed. When it's busy at work my shift always goes by faster.

Yeah but... if you want a movie with car chases, John Frakenheimer already made the greatest one ever.

I'm more of a fan of Bullitt than Grand Prix.

smokey and the bandit... is a movie about cars right?

i saw spielberg's early movie Duel the other week it was legit. but that was less about chases and more about being HUNTED

    1) Grand Prix was amazing, how dare you sir. Plus, Bullit wasn't a car film.

    2) Ronin. Not Grand Prix. Though it's funny that both of them have Bond alumni in them.

Only seen Five. It was sufficiently entertaining for me to watch until it ended (more than I can say for a lot of other movies...). I'll probably give the next one a try, too.

So it looks like it ended up being a TV spot with the full trailer hitting Tuesday.

Looks pretty good- going up against the military hardware certainly ups the ante sufficiently from cops and street crime.

    Poster is also up:

Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez fighting... well guess I'm seeing it now.

Having not seen any of these movies I take it I can just see this one and still understand what's going on right?

If I were you I might watch the last one to get an idea of who the people are. Other than that you should be fine.

I would suggest watching 5 for sure since that starts the whole thing with The Rock and begins the shift in tone/style from street racing to heist/action flick (even though there are elements of that in all the movies).

Start with 4, though, for the current backstory with Michelle.

If you want to go deeper, then watch the first one. The second is most skippable (but is the only one with Tyrese and Ludacris before their characters return in 5).

The third is rather good but, chronologically, is set after 6 (and, presumably, 7 as well). So it's not necessary viewing for the first time viewer.

Watch one because that has the beginning story with the Original Four Chracters (Walker's Brian who starts the story as an FBI agent, Vin Diesel's Dom, Rodriguez's Letty and Jordana Brewster's Mia). You can pretty much skip two and three (only Walker's in two and only Diesel's in three and neither movie has any bearing on four), go right to four and be fine from there.

Edit: Hopefully they don't dub Carno's voice like they did her last movie.

And note that Diesel is only a cameo in 3- the only real recurring character in 3 is Han (who is a minor character in the other films). Everyone else is waiting for them to make a post-3 sequel to get another paycheck ;).

Fast Six goes IMAX, gets spin-off.

Looks like they're looking into giving The Rock's character a spin-off film that will come out before Fast Seven.

I think my favorite reactionary comment I've seen was:

"So what this news means is that we're going to get a fully functioning cinematic, multi-platform Fast and Furious universe before Warners manages a Justice League movie.
    'Kay."
