That is the most complete variation. When I say 'sort of sequel, sort of rewrite' I mean that I'm jumping ahead in the timeline to where that stories sequel would have been, while retconning most of the stuff I had already written out. More of the fantastical stuff really, in addition to pushing it back a few years in-universe (the first one). And on rereading...



MAN does it need the rewrite. I cringe...I cringe on reading that

That being said, moving the timeline forward is really helping things. That one was more 'rar, WAR BATTLE FIGHT!!!', this one will be more political and moral drama. You'll see why assuming the rewrite/sequel ever gets off the ground

I did have an old unfinished fanfic, and what makes me cringe is how darn short the chapters are!

 

How many words?

 

I can't say exactly, but many of them were...about 5 paragraphs. I never went below three, but they could get kinda small...

 

Nothing wrong with that (unless you post on FFN where people will only read 2k plus word chapters). Mine typically range around 2 thousand to four thousand these days though.

 

Yeah, I thought you were going to say a paragraph. Which isn't even bad if you can pull it off.

As of now, any fanfiction "chapter," becomes a novel! Plus, they get so disconnected from the fandom it becomes it's own original story!

 

I've seen chapters on ff.net that are 10,000 words. Makes me freak out a little

It's like reading the Odessy if it's not properly spaced. Too long; don't read. Though I'm usually able to stick it out with fanfics, the Odyssey is a pain to read.
