PT Anyone else afraid Disney is going to pretend the prequels don't exist?

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but they could indirectly contradict the prequels with lightsaber colors. It had been established by the movies that only blue and green exist for Jedi, but the EU has largely ignored this. For me, introducting new colors would be very out of place at this point in the series.

I agree, keep it to blue, green and red for the bad guys.

No other colors. Not even purple, which was a mistake IMO

I really wish that Lucas had let Cin Drallig use a yellow lightsaber. I always use yellow ones in the video games where you can choose!

Agreed. I was under the impression that Blue, Red, Green, & Purple were the only colors - but then I saw yellow in the EU and games. And now I want a double-yellow saber more than anything!
I really hope we see yellow in the ST

Still wrong. You forgot the yellow saber staffs(EU) of the Temple guards.

On an RGB colour wheel, red and blue are opposites (i.e., red complements blue and blue complements red). On the same wheel, the opposite of green... is purple. Being that Yoda and Mace are the unofficial heads of the PT Jedi Order, I'd say the colours were well-chosen, myself. One may also assay the rich colour palette of AOTC and perhaps note that purple has a major presence in the opening air-chase/night-club sequence -- like this is a colour, in the bright, gaudy form of Mace's lightsaber, that has been pulled unconsciously from the underworld, into the cold light of day. Groovy stuff, I'd say.

Why would it matter if the st didn't mention the pt, an era decades before the potential timeframe for the st?

Agreed. They should go crazy with colors for Jedi TBH. Why shouldn't we have Silver, Gold, Orange, etc etc?

Sith however should stick with scarlet.

Yeah maybe even a two tone blade? I mean, why not? Or go even further and have a curved blade like a scimitar? No ones ever said the blade had to be straight? (Ridiculous)

Tell me, young Sistros...did you ever hear the Tragedy Of Darth Lucas the wise?"
    "No."
"I thought not...it's not a story the Screenwriter's Guild would tell you. It's a film legend. Darth Lucas was a director so powerful, and so convinced of his own ability to write, that he could even keep the actors he cared about...from ever speaking decent dialogue."
"He could actually screw films up that badly?"
"Having so much money is a pathway to directorial decisions some would consider to be...unnatural."

J J Abrams "Is it possible to learn this power?"

Yeah, I think the next step in lightsabers is something drastic. Double bladed, curved hilt, dual wielding... Next?

I wouldn't mind something like this to really change things up:

I have this awesome image in mind of someone walking along with it dragging along the floor, flicking embers and sparks as it trails behind them.

I would like to see a darksaber style blade at some point with any color. Lightwhips are always cool too.

Yeah... They do have a certain stigma attached to them! Haha :)

The descriptions of them in action in the Darth Bane books does sound pretty awesome though.

We certainly need a new iconic weapon in this future generation of SW movies either way. Maybe a modern take on some of the more obscure ancient weapons could work...

JJ abrams tends to go the nostalgia route, look at a movie like Super 8. It's very much in the style of the old 80's Spielberg movies. I think this new movie will have the look of the OT. That doesn't mean there won't be new things, but I don't think we are going to be seeing light whips either. Just my take, I could be proven wrong about that one.

With you on the whole look thing. Prime example is Fetts armour, all beaten up and old with the battle scars on it. Better than the pristine suit of Jango. IMO

I agree. I think JJ will be able to recapture the look of the OT and restore the real universe feel that has been sorely lacking in the Star Wars universe.

I think we will see more practical sets and shooting on location and less green screen.
