Five years for the first, and about six for the second one. I don't think they particularly like tank transfers when they outgrew their present tank. (Ended up in a 75 gallon one by the end of the first and just used that for thesecond one from the start.) First one would jump out of the water and knock the lid open if you ignored him when walking through the room and would follow you. Not a finger, but your head, smart fish but had to be picked off the floor and put back in his tank too often to have really been healthy. Second one would not eat guppies, go figure a fish that eats pirahnas and it wouldn't touch a guppie, we put on in as a treat when it had gotten fairly big and we think finally these will surve their true purpose of literal fish food again! and they stare at each other in the middle of the tank, and then swim to opposite sides and leave each other alone. Guppie died from tank transfer shock or starvation, that one would only eat flakes or worms. Mostly worms later in it's happy life. Despite two Oscars only one placastomas, and that thing not only out lived both of them, it was a behemoth that could only fit into one of those 10 gallon foot locker type tote coolers bent like a cresent. Head in one corner, body on opposite side, and tail on same side in opposite corner in an unconfortable U shape along the longest axis. Fish store was flabergasted when we brought him in since we couldn't afford another oscar, they didn't know they could get that big It was also playmate to both oscars and could give as good as they ever gave, a true companion fish with it's large arch rock that it would go to to sleep in.

Drifter is six years old and has some weird fungal infection on the fin that isn't going away and seems to be controlled by adding in aquarium salt and I can't figure it out. It's mostly gone but seems to be hanging on for some weird strange reason.

so you had a 2 foot bottom feeder in a 75 gallon tank?
