    May the verse be with you! Inspired by one of the greatest creative minds in the English language—and William Shakespeare—here is an officially licensed retelling of George Lucas’s epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter, William Shakespeare’s Star Wars will astound and edify learners and masters alike. Zounds! This is the book you’re looking for.

    On sale July 02, 2013.

    To trap, or not to trap,that is Ackbar's question:
    Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The lasers and torpedoes of outrageous Imperials
    Or to take Arms against a Space of troubles.

    Or:

    Et tu, Obi?

    Leia:

    O Luke, Luke! Wherefore art thou Luke?
    Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
    Or, if thou will not, be but sworn my love,
    And I'll be no longer a Skywalker.

    Yeah I went there...

    I now feel somewhat wrong that nobody else has liked Danzo's post. :p

    Got a galley of this, and I have to tell you: It's FANTASTIC. Seriously -- it's one of the most fun and surprising Star Wars books I've read in years. Putting A New Hope in Shakespearean language and meter is entertaining, yes. But what I didn't expect is Doescher does a great job with the characters and the story beyond just retelling it. It's got real wit and heart. I loved it and am hoping/demanding that he's working on Empire Strikes Back....

    Entirely possible. The way he handles the space battle is quite clever. Plus Luke offers his take on a famous Shakespeare speech, which is very cool.

    I wonder; will he somehow manage to work a Han Shot First joke in Shakespearean verse? [face_thinking]

    It's a great idea but the samples I read were just Okay. It's a cute concept & passable pastiche with a great cover.
