Blip You would tolerate a cameo of Jar-Jar Binks but no Mandalorians, Corran Horn or Yuuzhan Vong? Our views can't be further apart on this. I wish not see any old Jar-Jar in this trilogy. Mandos are a nice culture I do hope we'll see a great charistmatic character of this kind in the films. As for time travel, I personally don't mind the concept as a fan of SF and I don't think it doesn't fit in SW which is in a galaxy far far away and much more technologically advanced than here on Earth. ;)

P.Sam When I say "cameo" I mean a background appearance, ala the ET aliens in the senate in TPM. Regardless, oversaturation of the Mandalorians by that godawful writer whose name thankfully escapes me, plus the amount they were seen (and IMO misused) in TCW means I never, ever want to see that mask again, unless it's the dented one being modelled expertly by Fett.

And as for Corran Horn? The character is one big Gary Stu, and there's nothing I loathe more in fanfic, let alone "pro"fic.

You can keep the Yuuzhan Vong and the entire NJO era; if they feature you won't be able to pay me to enter the cinema!

Let's keep time travel where it belongs, yes? Safely in the hands of Mr Spock and Doc Brown... I imagine the Force would get its panties in an almighty universe-tearing bunch at the first sign of anyone attempting to tinker with the timeline, and I'm inclined to agree with it: I'd rather no Star Wars than time hopping Star Wars... ;)

I am outta there if NAMBLA decides to have a recruitment. As a matter of fact I would hope that someone goes postal on that group of sickos.

After 3 years of waiting, it's finally time to see Episode VII - "Insert title here," fans have been waiting in line for days just to get a glimpse of the sequels we've all been waiting for decades. The hype is huge, the anticipation even huger. Then it's time to go into the theaters for the midnight premiere. It's a madhouse, people are throwing popcorn at other fans, someone is having a lightsaber fight with FX lightsabers, but then a sudden and unequivocal silence falls over the fans.. The clock says 12:00am, it's time.

The famous LucasFilm logo falls onto the screen, you can feel the collective buzzing in the air of people thinking about what might happen. Then BOOM, STAR WARS goes onto the screen to the applause of the entire room, we get the epic music and the opening crawl. Then the camera pans down to..

I think that would get me angry enough to walk out of Episode VII.

The only thing that could possibly make me walk out, would be a projector malfunction.

Especially if the projector had a bad motivator. :p

Gay characters (no I am not anti-gay. but SW is not a place for leftist hollywood agendas...or any political agendas for that matter)
    Jar Jar type characters
Ignoring the last 23 years of SW books and "rebooting".

Having a gay character is a leftist agenda? Is having straight characters a conservative agenda?

Leia in slave girl outfit is the raciest thing in the movies and even that is mild. I cringe at EU things like pleasure bots because they go against the "feel" of Star Wars in general. Tackling a topic like homosexuality doesn't belong in star wars any more than pornography does. Star Wars is at its heart a drama of good and evil in rather overt tones. Muddying Anakin in the prequels in such a poor fashion kind of ruined his fall and redemption that I saw in the OT. But I digress. Gays, pornography, pleasure bots, these things would and have lessened the caliber of the works they've been included in.

So showing heterosexual romance is okay, but any homosexual characters are on par with pornography? Having a gay character would be "tackling a topic like homosexuality? Star Wars has lots of straight characters, is it tackling the topic of heterosexuality?

Blip As for Mandos, everyone can have their opinions about them but if you refer to Karen Traviss I should point out that she really put the culture on the map and even found a way to make clones more interesting. And yes, Mandos in TCW weren't really Mandos but a pathetic imitation of the Death Watch.

Don't worry, I don't think we'll see Yuuzhan Vongs in this new trilogy for they belong to the EU and let alone another galaxy. They were a very cool inventions of the EU for a change of the crumbling Empire remnants. I would not mind if they make something in the NOJ era but as I say it's very unlikely that they consider the EU at all.

There are cool things that could be done using time travel in SW. For instance a mighty Sith of old or a huge threat of a forgotten specie could come out of a distant past from the time of the Old Republic to establish themselves in the futur in Episode VII.
Lots of possibilities can be considered using time travel. Even though SW is more of a space opera, I don't see why this scenaristic device cannot be used.

IMO I think time travel is something that should be steered well clear of in the ST.

Yeah...time travel...I like all things sci-fi, but the concept of time travel annoys me. My suspension of disbelief doesn't suspend that far into the realm of impossibility. While Star Trek was good fun, that's all it ever was.

We all know that EU material will be largely ignored, even though Allana Solo makes Jake Lloyd's Anakin Skywalker look like a lobotomized gundark, so no problem there. Yay for Chewbacca fan service.

There's not a whole lot that could make me walk out of the theater...I mean, I'll know enough from trailers and spoilers to decide wether or not I'll even want to see it in the first place. Like if Miley Cyruss is in it (*snicker*), or some simular idiocy, you won't see me in the theater at all, let alone the midnight show!

But yeah...time travel is a no go. Might buy the DVD, though, and put it in the box with my copy of the Christmas Special. :p

Before any accusations start flying about who is a bigot and who isn't, let me just say that I have friends that are gay and I do not view them as hated by God or anything silly like that. But many religious traditions including my own view homosexual intercourse as a sin just as heterosexual intercourse outside of marriage is sin. Premarital intercourse of any kind is not covered in the Star Wars films.

Who said anything about intercourse? The original post said gay characters. You don't even have to show kissing, it could be as simple a character referencing their spouse.

And even if you view homosexuality as a sin, does that mean it can't be portrayed in Star Wars? We see mass murder, but gay people, that's just taking it too far?
