The amount of sleep needed is genetically determined with overly by cultural and learned factors. Regardless, though, it is extremely rare for people to do well with less. Two weeks of less than six hours per night results in physiological fatigue equal to 48 hours of total sleep deprivation. Going less than 7 hours is generally inadvisable.

My new car has full-time 4WD.

 

I bought an even more overpriced than usual cup of of coffee at Starbucks because they could only make the type I wanted on the the $11,000 machine. It tasted really good so now I may not be able to go back to standard drip

 

I walked into my local coffee shop, none of my friends were there, so I had to awkwardly walk out.

 

My five year old hijacked my iPad because, in her words, "it was the first one I found". So I'm having to use her iPad mini, which doesn't suit my fat fingers.

 

A. That's because there's a typo. It should read "overlay" not "overly"

B. There is no "link." What you want though, is the article titled "The cumulative cost of additional wakefulness: dose–response effects on neurobehavioral functions and sleep physiology from chronic sleep restriction and total sleep deprivation" in Volume 26, Issue 2 of the journal Sleep.

C. While you're looking in issue 6 of that same journal and volume you may note another article called "Predictors of objective sleep tendency in the general population" you'll find that the risk of falling asleep on controlled tests triples to almost 75% if one sleeps less than 6.75 hours a night.

I'm sorry if you prefer your macho self-assurance to the pretty broad body of literature about chronic sleep deprivation, or if you've failed to realize that perhaps your perception of your own fatigue can become just as skewed as all your other cognitive processes. But if we're talking about the general case of an adult, Technicolor was quite correct in the assertion that 7 hours is the broadly accepted minimum sleep requirement.

My first world problem is that out of the 4 or 5 random JCers I sent friend requests to tonight, I'm not entirely sure I picked ones I know. Just figured it was time to expand upon the 10 or so I already had.
