First they came for the communists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

I am actually with you there if that's how it plays out. I thought they were going to make it a "political" or "ideological" thing with Clones going against the Jedi after one too many Jedi go bad and Clones die because of it, see "Carnage of Krell" and Ahsoka arc.

That last arc also showed Tarkin removing some of the military functions from the Jedi, so I thought they would build up to the Jedi having less control over the Clones, and outside influences being able to manipulate their perceptions of the galaxy.

I don't see much of a difference between they were always going to do it because they follow orders without question and that they were always going to do it because of brainwashing.

I at one point wrote a fanon outline of how I would like to see Order 66 play out, which involved Padme trying to move away from the use of clones in the senate and cease of further cloning ---> Kaminoans faced with the prospect of "throwing away" (i.e. killing) the "merchandise" that was no longer being purchased. The Jedi themselves would finally see the immorality of using the clone army.

    This would all result in:

-Clones being concerned at the genocide being committed against the clones in the form of terminating "immature" clones.
-Clones being concerned as to what the future would hold for them once the war was over and the standing army disbanded (Samurai went through a similar crisis)
-Clones feeling betrayed by the senate and Jedi.

This would culminate with Sidious approaching several of the clone commanders and bringing them in on the conspiracy to overthrow the government, and in return Sidious would save the clones from elimination and guarantee a permanent military and a place for the clones within his New Order.

In hind sight though, that idea - as cool as I still think it is - doesn't really make sense. Palpatine had clones raised in secret that would obey "any order without question." I thought that was definitely foreshadowing Order 66 and highlighted the necessity of the clones - Palpatine needed soldiers that could reliably be expected to obey orders when it came time to kill the Jedi. He couldn't have them choke when the time came. So for Order 66 to not even be worked out until very late in the war by Palpatine manipulating the clones just seemed out of place, he likely would have been engineering an army with Order 66 in mind from the beginning.

If you didn't like TWC you could've always, ya know, not watched it.

There's nothing about the PT that demands TWC to be watched, so being happy about TWC ending unfinished means that you're happy that those of us who did love TWC are left feeling empty. You are cold, sir.

Sorry eht13 , you now have to rely on the NOAA website for your weather information.

It's a government conspiracy, I tell you. This is what happens when you let Mickey Mouse buy President Obama.

Disney has become the Ice-nine of every media outlet in existence. We're doomed.

Disney doesn't even care about the rest of us needing to know about the weather. It's always nice in Orlando and southern California.

So some of you wanted to see the clone wars destroyed and well, just remember that when your beloved Dark Horse loses the license in the end we'll see what you die hards are going to say. Screw Marvel? Haha yeah okay. I'll be there to say its very cold on these boards and its going to get colder.

If you don't like the clone wars its one thing, but don't be happy they cancelled it outright in the middle. Cause if you haven't noticed they are systematically cancelling and eliminating everything not in line with..............DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye Lucasarts, bye 1313, bye 3-D releases, bye clone wars, and soon bye Dark Horse.

    This, in a thread about a new series with positive potential for wrapping up TCW storylines? O... K. 8-}

what do you mean positve potential to wrap up what? Didn't you read the last star wars insider? Filoni needs another 3 to 4 years (100 episodes) to tie up all the stuff they put out there. Showing clips to start Dark Times is not the answer, and for some reason why is it that people keep thinking they are going to go for a Dark Times series, when the prequel movies weren't that liked by people anyway. Wouldn't it makes sense for Disney to go foward like the sequels and spin off movies.

Truly a word so evil, so foul, they had to censor it twice to get it past standards and practices...

But in all due seriousness, we shouldn't make too many assumptions about what Disney will do with the franchise. Sure, it doesn't look so bright with the initial cancellations and layoffs, but we should also look at this with some level of (cautious) optimism for the future. If they fail to make your expectations, then you can always move on.

PraenomenCognomen, I'm not sure we can assume just yet that the new animation series will cover the Dark Times. If it doesn't, there is little chance that it will wrap up those TCW loose ends.

And again, I say: positive potential.

I've stated the reasons many times. VII is just one movie; the following year, there will be a spinoff set in the dark times. There's more precedent for a dark times show than a sequel era show, assuming it takes 2-3 years to get the show off the ground; it would premiere between VII and the first spinoff, thereby promoting said spinoff. I don't think a sequel era show will happen until after the sequel trilogy is finished, a'la TCW coming out after prequels.

I never made assumptions, but you can't really question the fact that there's potential.

Frankly, I'd rather see TCW characters in a new environment and era. Filoni has much more of an opportunity to finish telling the stories at a leisurely pace with a new show than he would if Disney picked up TCW for an uncertain quantity of new seasons.

What.... what if Filoni's next plan of attack is the period between ANH-ESB????????

Filoni: "Yeah, there are a few things already written during that time period, but we can work around them just like we did for the CW years. Plus, this will get a new generation of kids interested in the OT characters, just in time for the new movies! ... And speaking of which, did I mention this new series will focus on Ahsoka and Lux's kid?"
